Want to be like George and Ruth? SWAP could use a few extra hands this summer--let us know if you're interested and we'll get you connected.

Meet Ruth and George Stoltzfus who are volunteers from Potterville, Michegan and serving with SWAP in Kimball, WV for one month. Ruth and George are taking part in SOOP (Service Opportunities with Our Partners) a program of Mennonite Mission Network. After exploring many options for service, they were placed with SWAP which seemed like a good fit. Ruth has been helping with food preparation for recent volunteer groups as well as cleaning, sewing, and other tasks. George has been guiding volunteers on job sites and helping to organize tools and materials. He likes fixing things, so has plenty to keep busy. Ruth and George, both retired, say they are volunteering because they "want something to do other than read the paper and browse the internet." We're glad they chose to volunteer with SWAP.

Our thanks to John Goshow (chapel) who joined Rocky Mountain for the last four weeks of the summer camping season as part of the SOOP program (https://www.mennonitemission.net/Serve/SOOP). John enjoyed his first experience last summer that he decided to return to tackle more projects including bridge and fence painting around camp. He greatly appreciated staff and summer staff welcoming him to be part of the team despite being old enough to be a grandparent for many. In true intergenerational spirit, John even joined the summer staff on an evening/night hike to Raspberry. Thanks John for sharing your gifts, talents and presence with us again this summer!

This was our first time participating in MCC's Serving Opportunities with Our Partners (SOOP) program. With three young kids, we knew we wanted to serve together as a family but we didn’t know when or where. We read the SOOP placements catalogue and felt overwhelmed with the endless options of pla...
