Meet Rudy:
Rudy is 6 years old and just like any kid, he loves playing outside, sports and playing with friends. Unlike most kids his age, Rudy was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma, a rare bone cancer.
Rudy’s cancer has traveled to multiple areas of his body from his original tumor site on his rib. It has metastasized to both femurs, pelvic bones and his lower vertebrae. He has completed all of his chemotherapy sessions which started in January and finished August 31st. He has 5 radiation treatments that are scheduled to start this month with a maintenance schedule running through April 2019.
Rudy is the oldest child and his little sister, Lucy, is two. Parents Tony and Laura are both lifelong residents of Middlebury. Like many young boys, Rudy loves sports and that is all he wants to do. His favorite sport is hockey and due to his passion for the sport, the entire family became big fans. So much in fact that they now build an ice rink on the side of their house during the winter to enjoy family bonding time together.
The local community is encouraged to attend 15th Annual Cockopalooza tomorrow to help families like Rudy’s and others who are struggling during this terribly difficult experience. Spread the word, attend or sponsor the event and help us bring awareness during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month & inspiration to other youth battling cancer like Rudy!
