Say hi to Bo!
Bo is a sociable and affectionate 3-year-old blue merle Aussie/Blue Heeler mix, weighing 69 lbs and sports a full tail. Bo is up to date on his vaccines, has been neutered, and is microchipped. He is a people-pleaser who thrives on human attention. He is very energetic and loves to chase a tennis ball, frisbee or tug on a rope. He will quickly return the toy to you, drop it at your feet and stare at you with his mesmerizing crystal blue eyes until you throw it again.
Bo enjoys puzzle toys. He quickly learned the following commands; sit, stay, wait, down, fetch, drop-it, and gentle. Sometimes, Bo is so happy when his ‘people’ come home or when he meets someone new, that he will experience an excited p*e. This does not happen all the time. He is used to wearing a belly-band when needed. Recently, the vet prescribed Proin to help strengthen his bladder wall muscles and it seems to be helping.
Bo has lived with cats and is indifferent to them. He loves dogs and will engage in healthy non-aggressive one-on-ones and play bows. He has lived with men, women, and teenagers.
In March of 2026 Bo weighed 85lbs. The undesired weight gain resulted in decreased energy and restricted mobility. He has been on a weight-loss journey since June of 2026. We have been working with Bo to slowly increase his activity, while adjusting his caloric intake. Bo’s hard work has paid off, his most recent weight check-in showed a loss of 16lbs!!. Bo’s target weight is 55-58lbs. Supporting Bo’s weight loss will be an important step in his overall long-term health. Bo eats from a slow feeder dish.
Bo has a strong personality and will push to be the center of attention in a multi-pet household. He will use his innate herding instinct and tools such as a ‘body block’ to move another dog or cat away from ‘his’ human. He will quickly identify the ‘weak’ spots and take advantage if given the opportunity.
Bo loves to have his coat brushed! He is accustomed to having his ears cleaned, teeth brushed and his nails trimmed. Bo would be a wonderful companion for a family with older kids or an adult who can give him a job with the exercise he needs to keep his body healthy and his mind sharp.
