🎄🎄🎄 Our members enjoyed one more fun afternoon celebrating the holidays. Our work is done for the year and we are already talking about our plans for 2026. But that afternoon was our time to party, enjoy lunch,a white elephant gift exchange and our friendships.

❄️❄️❄️ We have just finished decorating the Village with garlands and bows. Now the Village is ready for the tree lighting and Santa’s arrival on November 28, 6-8 p.m. Come to downtown Elk Rapids to meet and greet the Second Chance Mushers, enjoy plenty of hot cocoa and festive caroling. Snow is on it’s way to complete a perfect holiday event.
Our members would like to wish everyone and wonderful holiday filled with family, friends, joy and laughter.

🌸🌸🌸. Summer is over and Fall has arrived. Our gardens are still offering their beauty to our charming Village. This might be the last weekend to visit the gardens before we prepare them for winter. Fall decorations have been added to some of our gardens. Come check them out.

🌸🌸🌸 It is difficult to accept that it is time to say Good Bye and safe travels south to the hummingbirds. I’ve noticed they seem to leave around September 15. So fill your feeders and enjoy watching them for a few more weeks.

🌸🌸🌸. Have you seen the radiant red geraniums that flourish on the porch of the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island? They are grown at Mischel’s Greenhouses with many other annuals that are planted on the island and in our Village gardens. Sarah Mischel’s family was there from the beginning in 1985 and she will share with us her journey over the years. We will learn the process of starting from seed, transplanting and sending plants out to many locations. Hopefully, she will also share the process for caring for the ivy covered horse that spends its summer on the lawn at the Grand Hotel.
Please plan to join us on August 26, 12:30 that the Elk Rapids Harbor Pavilion. Guests are always welcomed.

🌸🌸🌸 Saturday is the last day of Harbor Days, a fun community event. We will be meeting for the Harborwalk at 8:30. If you are registered, please join us. You can still sign up at, elkrapidsharbordays,org. The proceeds support the Elk Rapids Schools Cross Country and Track+ Field programs. Also check out the festive decorations at the Blue Star garden on U.S. 31. Thank you ladies for adding to the fun!

🌸🌸🌸 The last Evening on River Street will be tomorrow with the opening ceremonies for Harbor Days. There will be food from local restaurants, kid’s activities and live music. Come by and meet the members and discover all we do in the Village and discover the locations of the 9 gardens we care for . Look for the booth decorated with flowers. We have information on gardening and tattoos for the children of all ages. Come by and say Hello!

🌸🌸🌸 Evenings on River Street are a Wednesday night favorite in Elk Rapids, June25-July 30. The event features food from local restaurants, kid’s activities, live music and the Elk Rapids Garden Club. Come by and meet the members and discover all we do in the community, in addition to caring for our 9 gardens. Look for the booth decorated with flowers, information on gardening and activities for the children. Come by and say Hello!

🌸🌸. Our members have planted our 9 gardens and are ready for summer. But have you noticed a garden in the middle of the Village that seems to call to you to come in, rest and stay awhile? This is a small arboretum to honor Lauren Wilkinson. It’s Lauren’s Grove. Leslie Lee, President of the Lee Family Foundation, will discuss this rich and generous story of this young environmentalist.
Please join us at Elk Rapids Harbor Pavilion, June 24, 12:30. We always welcome guests.

🌸🌸 Just in time for planting after the last danger of frost, Terry Bertrand of Barker Creek Nursery will join us to talk about all things gardening. During this program , he will share what he has seen and heard are the hot topics in gardening for Spring 2025. Bring your questions for an expanded Q&A time with Terry.
Please join us Tuesday, May 20 at the Elk Rapids Harbor Pavilion. We meet for a social time at 12:30, with the meeting starting at 1:00.
Everyone is welcomed to join us and enjoy this important gardening program with Terry.
