🌍 In South Luangwa, conservation and education go hand in hand.

The Luangwa River sustains the wildlife we all come to see. It also sustains the communities who have lived beside it for generations, and the children growing up there are the ones who will care for this valley in the near future.

That's why our work doesn't stop at the riverbank. Every week, over 2,000 children learn to read, write and speak English in our literacy centers, supported by reading assistants from their own villages. 📚

A child who can read can learn, lead and speak up for the place they call home. 💚

Protecting this landscape means investing in the people who will protect it tomorrow.

🐾 DID YOU KNOW? Hyenas Are More Than Scavengers! 🐾

Think hyenas just steal food from other predators? Think again! 👀

In a spotted hyena clan, the females lead. They're bigger and stronger than the males, and cubs inherit their mother's rank. 👑
That famous "laugh"? It isn't a joke. It's a sound hyenas make when they're nervous, excited or showing who's in charge. And lions sometimes steal prey from hyenas, not just the other way around!

Hyenas are clever, social animals that help keep places like South Luangwa in balance. It's time to give them the respect they deserve! 💚🌿

📚 A glimpse into a day at Africa Hope Fund's reading centers in Zambia's South Luangwa Valley.

Children come together to have their lessons, are very excited throughout and share a good book. All the photographs show the same thing that when children have books, have mentors and receive a bit of encouragement, they become joyful.

All of this would never take place without your backing. Please help us continue to be in those classrooms.

Going to Zambia with Africa Hope Fund was the kind of trip that you simply can't find elsewhere. The AHF team is deeply connected with those who are working hard to make Mfuwe a place where people (and animals) can rise above their challenges. From volunteering with the amazingly resilient local students and going on game drives with expert guides to relaxing at the lodge with hippos for entertainment, it was a rich experience that I will not soon forget. Shirlee T.

Now it's your turn to experience Africa Hope Fund's Volunteer Safari Trip 2027. Dates: 25 June to 9 July 2027.

🌍 Come for the wildlife.
📚 Volunteer alongside resilient local students.

🐘 Did You Know?

Elephants are known for their remarkable memories. They can remember water sources across far distances, recognise other elephants and even humans after years of separation, and pass important knowledge from one generation to the next.

Their intelligence, empathy, and strong family bonds are exactly why protecting them and the land they travel on matters so much.

Across the South Luangwa Valley, literacy centers are helping children discover the joy of reading, build confidence, and develop skills that can open doors to a brighter future.

Listen to the way access to books is making a difference in the community. 📖✨
