Senate Bill 1105 (“Protect California Rights Act”) is currently moving its way through legislature. The bill would significantly restrict cooperation between local, state, and federal law enforcement partners during joint investigations and task force operations. EGPOA opposes the passing of this bill, as police departments rely on these partnerships to combat crimes such as drug trafficking, human trafficking, organized retail theft, gang activity, and violent crimes that often cross jurisdictional boundaries. We would argue that SB 1105 creates legal uncertainty for officers, limits information sharing, and may hinder the ability of local agencies to access federal resources, personnel, and specialized investigative tools.

Couldn’t agree more with Placer County DA Morgan Gire. This is a perfect example of California’s negligence with certain mental health diversion participants. This is extremely unfortunate and disheartening, but great work on Placer County’s part for putting this monster where he belongs.

PORAC is proud to have supported the Medal of Sacrifice Act, which has now been signed into law.

This legislation establishes a national honor recognizing law enforcement officers and first responders who make the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities. While no recognition can ever replace a loved one, this law helps ensure that the courage, dedication, and sacrifice of our fallen heroes are never forgotten.

PORAC thanks the lawmakers and stakeholders who worked to advance this important legislation and remains committed to honoring those who gave their lives in the line of duty and supporting the families they leave behind.

We’re proud to recognize several of our POA members who participated in the 30th Annual Police Unity Tour. Alongside 2,800 riders from across the country, they helped raise an incredible $2.5 million for the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund.

Their dedication honors the memory of fallen officers and supports the families and communities they leave behind. We are grateful for their commitment, both on and off the job. 💙🚴

Peace Officer Memorial Day is observed today across the country. Flags fly at half-staff, and they should.

President Kennedy signed the law establishing this observance in 1962. Since then, more than 22,000 names have been added to the National Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington D.C., representing every line of duty death in American history. Each name belongs to someone who left behind a family that had to keep going without them.

The risk these professionals accept is real. The support we provide their families needs to be real too.
