We had the most incredible week at PCIS 10. This team (minus 2 that had to leave early) are some of the best humans. What a week! Hope restored for people who lost it along the way in these professions. Trust restored by people who didn’t trust anyone and had isolated away from everyone. People that say it saved their life and marriage. People left with genuine smiles. I just can’t describe the feeling that comes with witnessing and being a part of such a transformation for the helpers who have been hurt by what they experience. If you know anyone who could benefit please tell them about PCIS.

Some of the NYLEAP family and others from around the country, had the opportunity to join CALEAP to kick off their first PCIS. Congratulations to California for bringing much needed supports to the West Coast. Welcome to the LEAP family!

This afternoon, Sergeant Eric Angle gave a presentation to the Northern California Police Officers Association regarding Officer Wellness. The discussion included topics regarding mental health awareness for first responders. WSPD’s Wellness Team focuses on providing peer support to members of our department, promoting healthy habits, and providing education with regards to Post Traumatic Stress Injuries. Sergeant Angle is also a board member for a nonprofit organization known as California Law Enforcement Assistance Program (CALEAP). CALEAP provides peer-driven assistance in partnership with mental health clinicians and law enforcement chaplains for current, former and retired first responders and their spouses who have been involved in critical incidents.
