Recognizes 5th Grade Student Council at Clearmont Elementary School

On Thursday March 5, 2026, Community Character Coalition of Elk Grove (CCC) recognized members of the 5th Grade Student Council at Clearmont School in Elk Grove. Coalition members on the Youth Recognition Team and school staff celebrated with students to recognize their service and leadership in the school and community. Students planned a wide variety of ways to enrich the school community. They deliver a birthday card to staff members on their special day. On National Kindness Day, students passed out stickers to students and made positive announcements. They decorated the hallways in celebration of Read Across America week! Student Council members help students and staff in classrooms. Council members also make a positive impact in their community by collecting 205 pounds of candy to send to active military. Future plans include cleaning up the community on Earth Day and be on the look-out for new plantings around the school this Spring. Student Council members were presented with a recognition certificate for CITIZENSHIP and each student received a goodie bag of fun items and a treat. We are proud of the positive character demonstrated by these students as they strive to make Clearmont School a safe and welcoming place to learn and grow!

Recognizes The Kindness Club at Brentwood Elementary School

On Thursday February 5, 2026, Community Character Coalition of Elk Grove (CCC) recognized members of the Kindness Club at Brentwood School in Des Plaines. Coalition members on the Youth Recognition Team, school staff sponsors and principal celebrated with students to recognize their service and leadership in the school and community.

The Kindness Club’s goal is to “promote a sense of community” throughout the school. Several times a year, members teach lessons on kindness in every classroom. The lesson includes a read aloud story and the book is then donated to the classroom. On Friday mornings, Kindness Club members, shaking pom poms and holding signs, can be seen and heard cheering outside(weather permitting) as they welcome students to school. Students also write positive notes to hang on student lockers, and organize community service projects for WINGS and the pediatric unit at Northwest Community Hospital.

The Kindness Club was presented with a recognition certificate for CARING and each student received a goodie bag of fun items and a treat. We are proud of the positive character demonstrated by these students as they strive to make Brentwood School a safe, KIND and welcoming place to learn!
