Today, we celebrate United Way Founding Day and the idea that has brought communities together for nearly 140 years: when we work together, we can accomplish more than we ever could alone.

For 25 of those years, United Way of Central Kentucky has been proud to bring people, businesses, nonprofits and community partners together to address the challenges facing Hardin, Meade, LaRue, Breckinridge and Grayson counties.

Our work is made possible by the people who give, volunteer, advocate and show up for their neighbors. Thank you for being part of the United Way of Central Kentucky story and for helping us build a stronger community together.

Today is World Food Day, a reminder that access to nutritious food is a basic need, and one that too many families in our community struggle to meet.

At United Way of Central Kentucky, we work alongside local partners to connect individuals and families with food and other essential resources.

We’re proud to support organizations working to combat food insecurity across our five-county service area, including Warm Blessings Community Kitchen, Shepherd’s Pie Food Pantry, New Hope Family Life Ministries, Helping Hand of Hope, Grayson County Alliance and the Grayson County Ministerial Association.

Through the support of our community, we’re working every day to ensure that no one in our region has to go without the basic resources they need.

Pumpkin carvers needed!

We’re looking for volunteers to carve pumpkins for Owensboro Health Twin Lakes Medical Center’s 3rd Annual F**t Fiddle Pumpkin Walk in Leitchfield, which kicks off October 23!

We’ll provide the pumpkins; all you have to do is pick them up at our office and let your creativity shine. Carved pumpkins must be returned by October 21.

Since 2001, United Way of Central Kentucky has worked to make a lasting difference across the communities we serve.

Over the years, that impact has included:

-1.2 million people fed

-80,000 families receiving rent and utility assistance

-60,000 children gaining access to after-school programs

-300,000 hours of volunteer service

-70,000 referrals through the 2-1-1 hotline

These numbers represent more than statistics. They represent neighbors helped, families supported, children given opportunities and communities made stronger.
