Our annual Week of Action kicked off today, and we are grateful to everyone who is volunteering their time to make a meaningful difference in our community!

Local organizations have identified important needs, and community members have answered the call to serve, including a team from Swope Family of Dealerships who volunteered at our Community Garden. This incredible team cleared weeds from the planting beds, greenhouse, and surrounding grounds; relocated planter boxes into the greenhouse; elevated and connected the rain barrels and hoses; and relocated excess bricks. Their hard work has helped create a more organized, functional, and welcoming space for the community.

This week is a powerful reminder of what can be accomplished when people come together to support one another. We look forward to seeing even more individuals step up throughout the week to create lasting impact across our region.

We are excited to introduce three distinguished community leaders to our Board of Directors. Please join us in welcoming Rick Games, Lance O’Bryan and Brady Reynolds!

Their combined institutional knowledge and commitment to our community will be an invaluable asset as we continue our work on behalf of area families in need.

Volunteers Needed! 📢

Summer reading plays a vital role in helping children maintain and strengthen their literacy skills while school is out. Through Little Free Libraries located throughout the community, children have access to free books that encourage a lifelong love of reading. However, these valuable resources depend on the support of dedicated community volunteers.

If you would like to help stock and maintain Little Free Libraries in our area, please contact Andrea Hill at [email protected].

Our annual Week of Action is next week, and we are currently seeking volunteers! Through the initiative, organizations, schools and churches submit projects for consideration that could benefit from volunteer support, and volunteer groups are mobilized throughout the community to help.

Individuals and organizations interested in volunteering are encouraged to learn more and sign up at unitedwayck.org/dayofaction

UWCK was proud to be represented at the fifth annual GC Thrive Summer Resource Fair in Leitchfield yesterday, where area families connected with organizations offering support in healthcare, housing, rent assistance, education, tourism, volunteer opportunities, and more.

We are grateful for the opportunity to serve Grayson County and to have board members engage directly with the community about our mission and ongoing work.
