May is Mental Health Awareness Month and it is time to . The national su***de prevention lifeline can now be contacted via the three digit number 988, thanks to the National Su***de Hotline Act of 2020 and the sponsor of the bill, Senator Cory Gardner. At March For Our Lives Etown, we support Black Lives Matter. Today is day two of the Derek Chauvin trial. To watch it live, see here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OwE_fvtP4ww. We hope that George Floyd receives justice and that we as a society continue to accomplish more in regard to equality and equity. Please continue to stay informed, and remember that Derek Chauvin is on trial, not George Floyd.

This past Tuesday, there was a hate crime committed against Asian Americans in Atlanta, Georgia. The shooter killed eight people – many of which were women – and injured others at several spas located in the Atlanta area. The shooter perpetrated white supremacy and hyper-sexualization of Asian American women during the mass shooting, and March for Our Lives Etown firmly stands against white supremacy. We stand with the Asian American and Pacific Islander communities. To prevent AAPI hate, we recommend the action items illustrated in the images we’ve included. See the comments section below for resources.

Aalayah Eastmond is a survivor of the Parkland shooting, which occurred on February 14 of 2018. She has been involved recently with the Black Lives Matter and aims to address "not only police violence, but a lot of the intersections that impact Black lives negatively, specifically in [D.C.]." She recently protested in Louisville, Kentucky for Breonna Taylor. Check out this video from CNN where she discusses Black Lives Matter, the Parkland shooting, gun violence, and her activism overall: https://www.cnn.com/videos/us/2021/02/02/aalayah-eastmond-parkland-blm-activist-voices-digi-prod.cnn/video/playlists/atv-coronavirus-reopening/.
