Saturday is predicted to have light snow showers, while Sunday could have snow showers with accumulation possible.
Monday will experience plummeting temperatures as well as more snow showers with accumulation possible.
Tuesday will feature negative wind chills with more snow showers with accumulation possible.
Wednesday is forecasted, as of now, to have negative wind chills.
A couple of key points we want to make Hardin County citizens aware of:
During the wind gusts, try not to travel and stay at the location you’re at. If you have to travel, drive slowly and keep both hands on your steering wheel. Beware of falling debris such as downed tree limbs and power lines. Stay away from downed wires. Always assume any downed wire is an energized power line and call immediately. Be cautious when clearing fallen tree limbs and debris.
If you see power lines in the road, please call 911.
If you experience a power outage, please contact your appropriate provider to report the outage.
NOLIN RECC customers:
Call 270-765-6153 to report your power outage. Or you may text with a mobile phone that is associated with your account the word “OUT” to 855-938-3651. If you are away from your home but want to check the status of your electricity during the storm, please text the word “STATUS” to 855-938-3651.
KU customers:
Call 800-981-0600 (fast path 1-1) to report an outage. Or you may text “OUTAGE” to 4LGEHU (454358) and they will use the number you texted from to find the location where power is out. We’ll text you address information and ask you to verify it. If it isn’t the correct address, you can enter a different phone number, the account number or the meter number for the outage location.
Regularly check the local news, the Hardin County Emergency Management page, and weather reports for updates.
If you have school age children in your home, keep watch for any messages directly from the school system about school delays or cancellations. Do not rely on secondhand information from family and friends, as it may be wrong.
Animal Control has a few tips for pet owners during the storm: please bring your animals inside where it’s safe and warm; remember that if it’s cold for you then it’s cold for them; and make sure your pets have plenty of water. Additionally, if needed, Animal Care and Control has vouchers for straw if you are in need.
