Hardin County, here is a recent press release that we shared with our media partners. Please share and help to spread the word!

Citizens of Hardin County, KY,
A strong cold front is coming through our area that will produce windy and wet conditions from Friday, January 12, 2024, through Wednesday, January 17, 2024. During this time, there is a high probability that our region will experience sub-zero wind chills. Hardin County has resources on standby for those who are without adequate shelter, or those who lose power and have no heat. If you are a Hardin County Citizen who is displaced and in need of assistance, please contact Hardin County E-911 on their non-emergency dispatch lines:
270-737-5669 or 270-982-5688
If you are a Hardin County citizen that lives in the jurisdiction of Elizabethtown, Radcliff, or Vine Grove, please contact your city resource at the following numbers:
Elizabethtown – 270-765-4125
Radcliff – 270-351-4477
Vine Grove – 270-877-2252
For those who are unaware, this is the current weather projection at this time:
Friday will see possible wind gusts from 45-60 mph. Isolated thunderstorms are possible, and this rain could transition to snow.
Saturday is predicted to have light snow showers, while Sunday could have snow showers with accumulation possible.
Monday will experience plummeting temperatures as well as more snow showers with accumulation possible.
Tuesday will feature negative wind chills with more snow showers with accumulation possible.
Wednesday is forecasted, as of now, to have negative wind chills.
A couple of key points we want to make Hardin County citizens aware of:
During the wind gusts, try not to travel and stay at the location you’re at. If you have to travel, drive slowly and keep both hands on your steering wheel. Beware of falling debris such as downed tree limbs and power lines. Stay away from downed wires. Always assume any downed wire is an energized power line and call immediately. Be cautious when clearing fallen tree limbs and debris.
If you see power lines in the road, please call 911.
If you experience a power outage, please contact your appropriate provider to report the outage.
NOLIN RECC customers:
Call 270-765-6153 to report your power outage. Or you may text with a mobile phone that is associated with your account the word “OUT” to 855-938-3651. If you are away from your home but want to check the status of your electricity during the storm, please text the word “STATUS” to 855-938-3651.
KU customers:
Call 800-981-0600 (fast path 1-1) to report an outage. Or you may text “OUTAGE” to 4LGEHU (454358) and they will use the number you texted from to find the location where power is out. We’ll text you address information and ask you to verify it. If it isn’t the correct address, you can enter a different phone number, the account number or the meter number for the outage location.
Regularly check the local news, the Hardin County Emergency Management page, and weather reports for updates.
If you have school age children in your home, keep watch for any messages directly from the school system about school delays or cancellations. Do not rely on secondhand information from family and friends, as it may be wrong.
Animal Control has a few tips for pet owners during the storm: please bring your animals inside where it’s safe and warm; remember that if it’s cold for you then it’s cold for them; and make sure your pets have plenty of water. Additionally, if needed, Animal Care and Control has vouchers for straw if you are in need.
Finally, be sure to get connected to TextMyGov for important information. Simply text HARDINCOUNTY at 91896.

Thanks,
Joey Scott
Hardin County Emergency Management Director

Warm Blessings will be CLOSED for all services on Tuesday, January 16th and Wednesday, January 17th, so that all staff and volunteers may attend the services of our friend, team member, and volunteer, Walt Obrochta. We appreciate the public's understanding in allowing everyone who knew and loved Walt to pay their respects.

On any given Wednesday, you could find Linda and her husband, Walt, in the WB kitchen. They spent hours each week preparing thoughtful, balanced dinners for our community. Never one to back down from a challenge, Walt took on roasting every last turkey that we needed to serve over 300 individuals for Thanksgiving dinner, and then spent hours on Wednesday carving each of those turkeys. On Thursday mornings, Walt drove his personal truck to FAKH's distribution center and picked up our weekly orders, then helped to unload, sort product, stock freezers, break down boxes, and come up with meal ideas. Walt was back in the building each Thursday evening, as 1/2 of the Mobile Meals team. He not only delivered dinner and groceries to an average of 100 people in Radcliff every week, he became a friend to many, listening to their concerns, offering advice and laughing with them. To say that our Wednesdays and Thursdays now have a gaping hole in them would be a gross understatement. Walt played a pivotal role here at Warm Blessings, as a mentor, a friend, and a support. As a retired Army Sgt First Class and small business owner, Walt could have chosen to do anything with his free time -- we are honored that he chose to spend it with us. We are sending our most sincere condolences to Shanon, Will, Ava, Derek and Linda, and are praying for peace for them as they navigate this time.
