Meet a Milandila Team Member: Racheal Nabaggala ❤️

Meet Racheal, Milandila’s lead midwife and the person in charge of our hospital facility.

We asked her about her work and what she has seen God do through Milandila.

Q: How did you get involved with Milandila?

Racheal: “When Jim and Morgan returned to Uganda, they knew I was a midwife and gave me an opportunity to join them in the work of ministry. I gladly joined because Milandila’s vision gave me a greater opportunity to serve the Lord through my profession as we care for women.”

Q: How have you seen God at work?

“Through the relationships we build with mothers, I have realized that they need more than physical healing. Many are struggling emotionally and spiritually.”

“I have seen mothers come through our doors hopeless about life and the future of their babies. But through support, encouragement, and prayer, we see smiles return and hope begin to grow.”

“Some have even given their lives to Christ.”

This is why Milandila is more than healthcare.

It’s a place where mothers are cared for, encouraged, prayed for, and reminded that God sees them and loves them.

Why Maternal Health Matters

At just 14 years old, Evie was facing something she barely understood.

She wasn’t even sure how a baby got in her belly or why her body was changing. The baby’s father was a boy from her school’s soccer team. When her pregnancy became known, Evie was forced to leave school, and the boy and his family denied paternity.

She was ashamed, confused, and afraid.

Then her mother brought her to Milandila.

At the Family Center, Evie began learning about her changing body, her growing baby, and how to become a mother.

Slowly, fear began to turn into acceptance—and maybe even joy.

Then she held her healthy baby boy.

She wasn't just holding her baby. She was holding a future she once couldn't imagine.

Evie was prepared to care for him, nurse him, and begin building a more hopeful future for them both.

This is why maternal health matters.

It’s more than medical care. It’s giving a mother knowledge when she is afraid, support when she feels alone, and hope when she can’t yet see a way forward.

At Milandila, we walk alongside mothers and babies in some of life’s most vulnerable moments—and pray that through that care, they experience the love of Christ.

Milandila is more than program initiatives. It’s one story of transformation.

The strength of Milandila isn’t found in any single program. It’s found in the way each part strengthens the others.

🌿 The Family Center walks alongside pregnant and postpartum mothers through weekly care, education, community, and discipleship.

🏥 The Women’s & Babies’ Hospital provides skilled medical care, safe delivery, and compassionate care for mothers and newborns.

☕ The Café creates employment and vocational training for Milandila women while providing sustainable revenue and continued opportunities for discipleship.

🌾 The Farm provides agricultural training, food security, family income stability, and a guaranteed market for produce.

But here’s where the real beauty happens:

The Family Center identifies vulnerable women.
The Hospital cares for them with dignity.
The Café creates opportunities for employment and continued discipleship.
The Farm strengthens their families through food and income.

And through every part of the journey, relationships are built.

Relationships create opportunities for discipleship.
Discipleship leads to transformed lives.
Transformed lives impact families and communities.
And those families carry the Gospel into places we may never reach ourselves.

Giving isn’t simply about meeting a financial goal. It’s about saying yes to what God is doing through His people.

One mama who came through our Family Center recently shared:

Meet James & Morgan — the founders of Milandila ❤️🇺🇬

Sometimes God plants a calling in your heart long before you understand where it will lead.

James and Morgan met in 2013 while serving together at a medical camp in Uganda. They married in January 2015 and began their life together in the United States. But from the very beginning of their marriage, they shared a conviction: one day, God was calling them back to Uganda to start a medical and community outreach ministry.

So they prepared.

Morgan earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and gained experience as a labor and delivery nurse. James continued growing in ministry and leadership, preparing to serve and reach his own people.

Then, in 2021, they took the step of faith and returned to Uganda, founding Milandila Community Missions in Luwero District.

Since then, God has been writing a beautiful story.

❤️ Women have rediscovered dignity.
❤️ Families have found hope.
❤️ Babies have received care.
❤️ Communities have grown stronger.
❤️ Doors have opened for healthcare, discipleship, and the Gospel.

And this is only the beginning.

Milandila is not ultimately James and Morgan’s story. It is God’s story.

He is the One who heals.
He is the One who restores.
He is the One who opens doors and transforms lives.

James and Morgan simply said yes to His call.

Now they invite us to witness what God is doing—and to consider how we might take part.

Because when God calls ordinary people to something bigger than themselves, He can use their obedience for His eternal and beautiful purposes.

What if sharing the Gospel starts with simply taking the time to listen?

At Milandila, we believe intentional relationships are one of the most powerful ways to share the good news of Jesus.

When we take the time to know someone—their story, their struggles, their hopes, and their hurts—we have an opportunity to show them the love of Christ in a way that is personal and real.

That happened with Brenda.

Our clinical team met Brenda on her 17th birthday during a home visit to check on her pregnancy, her preparedness, and the support surrounding her.

But as they listened, they discovered a much deeper story.

Brenda had never known her father. The father of her baby had put her out. Her own mother had disowned her because of the pregnancy. She was living with her elderly grandmother.

She was carrying more than a baby. She was carrying rejection, hurt, shame, and questions about whether she was truly loved.

And on her 17th birthday, Brenda heard something she had never heard before:

Jesus sees you.
He sees every hurt.
Every unmet desire.
Every regret.
Every place where shame has taken root.

He cares about you. He offers forgiveness. He can take what is broken and bring new life.

And then came a beautiful reminder:

Before Brenda was born, before the foundations of the world were set, God knew her. He had formed her, surrounded her with His glory, and created her to bring His glory into the world.

That day, Brenda gave her life to Christ. It was her birthday—and her rebirth day.

Visits to Milandila created a relationship. A relationship became an opportunity to share Jesus. And one conversation changed eternity.

This is how God uses Milandila. We build relationships, and then we have the privilege of pointing people to the One who loves them most.

We believe strengthening a community means caring for the whole person.

Physical needs matter.
Spiritual needs matter.
Relationships matter.

That's why our mission extends beyond one program or project.

Through healthcare and maternal support, we can walk alongside women before and after the birth of their children.
Through education and practical training, we can help individuals and families develop knowledge and skills for the future.
Through community development and sustainable initiatives, we can help families build toward greater stability.
And through every relationship, we have an opportunity to demonstrate and share the love of Jesus.

Our Family Center is one beautiful example. Women receive education, prenatal and postpartum care, resources, health services, encouragement, community, prayer, and discipleship as our team walks alongside them through pregnancy and motherhood.

Because when a woman is supported, a child can have a healthier beginning. When families are strengthened, communities can flourish. And when relationships are rooted in Christ, the impact can reach generations. 🌱
