Happy Mother’s Day from Milandila 💛
Every day let us honor the heroic women of Uganda who choose life in the face of hardship and persevere daily to nurture, protect, and provide for their children under some of the most difficult circumstances imaginable.
Many of the mothers we serve walk miles for medical care, sleep hungry so their children can eat, battle illness, raise children alone, and still open their hands to others in need. Their strength is humbling. Their sacrifice reflects the heart of Christ.
Recently, during a home visit to check on the physical and resource readiness of an HIV-positive teenage mother, we met the woman who had taken her in after both her own mother and the father of her baby abandoned her.
In her own humble circumstances, with only a potato crop and a one-room house, we asked why she chose to care for this sick, pregnant girl.
Her answer moved us deeply:
“I am a mother. As God is a life-giver, He has blessed me to bring life too. That makes me a mother to all, not just those who came from my womb.
Also, I am born again. It was explained to me that through Jesus and not my own goodness, my sins have been forgiven. I am a new creature and now am tasked with passing that same kind of undeserved love and mercy to others.
As I have been given grace, I extend that grace to others in Jesus’ Name. I don’t have much to offer her, but I have a place for her to lay and some potatoes for her to eat. If she wants them, she is most welcome.”
This is the kind of love that changes lives.
This Mother’s Day, we invite you to celebrate the sacrifice and selflessness of mothers by giving to Milandila’s “Where Needed Most” Fund. These gifts allow us to respond to urgent needs immediately and ensure that no woman who comes for help is ever turned away.
Your support helps provide:
• Medical care for mothers and babies
• Safe deliveries and prenatal support
• Discipleship and counseling
• Livelihood and sustainability programs
• Hope rooted in the Gospel of Jesus Christ
May we all honor mothers not only with words, but through action, compassion, and generosity.
