When I woke up this morning, I thanked God for putting me on His wake-up list. I asked, “How can I serve You today?”
I didn’t have to work today, so I knew I wouldn’t be in my normal routine of helping the public. I simply prayed, “Lord, shine Your light on me so I can shine it on others.”
Something kept telling me I should volunteer at the Isaiah House. As I was getting ready for the day, I dug out my Isaiah House T-shirt and put it on—just in case my help was needed.
By late morning, the text came through: children were headed to the house, and my help was needed.
Whether my smile made their day or theirs made mine, I’m not sure. ❤️ What I do know is that I was so thankful to have the day off and even more thankful for the opportunity to help.
Sometimes God answers our prayers in the simplest ways. We just have to be willing to listen, show up, and let His light shine through us. 🙏✨

A story from an open home ❤️

He was 13. It had been a long week for him.

He came into our home kind and respectful, but playing the "tough guy." Like he had been carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders for far too long. He kept to himself, offering short answers and avoiding much conversation.

As the evening went on, we found a small pack of football cards. It may not have looked like much to anyone else, but to him, it was everything in that moment.
His face softened.

He carefully opened the pack and began looking through the cards, talking about players, teams, and games he had watched. Before long, he was sharing stories and striking up conversations about something he genuinely loved. For the first time that day, he was simply being a 13-year-old boy who loved football.

Tucked inside the cards was a note from the person that donated those cards. A simple message reminding a child that they are seen, valued, and not alone.

As he was preparing for bed that night, he held onto that note and those cards a little tighter, and said something none of us will forget: ""I don't know who Tim is, but I am glad he thought of kids like me.""

At Isaiah 117 House, reducing trauma doesn't always begin with grand gestures. Sometimes it begins with a pack of football cards. Sometimes it begins with a conversation about a favorite team. Sometimes it begins with a child realizing that complete strangers care enough to think about them.

Because on one of the hardest days of a child's life, being reminded that they are not alone can change everything.❤️

On August 14, 2022, the Knox County community came together to celebrate a much-anticipated day with a ribbon-cutting honoring the work that went into building the Knox County, IN, Isaiah 117 House. Since their ribbon-cutting, this team has had the privilege of serving close to 400 children.

This past year has been a year of growth and success for this team…

- Receiving a generous $5000 donation from their local TV station, WTWO - My Wabash Valley.
- Having their largest numbers to date for the 2026 Lemonade Stand Challenge Weekend.

Thank you to Jacquelyn Cunningham, Megan Wedding, Martha Barnett, Tamara Timm, and the many volunteers, community supporters, and donors who continue to change the way foster care begins in Knox County, Indiana.

Love, you're not alone.
