“Voter Registration & Civic Engagement”

Today was another successful and meaningful day for our Elizabeth Hub site mentees! Our youth had the opportunity to participate in a great community event focused on voter registration, voter education, and civic engagement.

Throughout the event, our mentees listened to several speakers discuss the importance of voting and why every voice and every vote matters. They learned that voting is more than simply casting a ballot, it is one of the ways citizens can have a voice in decisions that impact their schools, neighborhoods, families, and communities.

This was also a great opportunity for our mentees to learn about community involvement, leadership, and civic responsibility at an early age. Even for those who are not yet old enough to vote, they were able to gain a better understanding of the voting process and why being informed and involved in your community is so important.

Our mentees were excited to be a part of the experience, ask questions, listen, learn, and assist with the event. Most importantly, they were able to see firsthand what it looks like when community organizations and residents come together for a common purpose.

September 19, 2026.
Today, our mentees participated in an important discussion led by Mentor, Mrs. Marcella on Peer Pressure and how the people around us can influence the choices and decisions we make.

Our mentees learned that peer pressure can be both positive and negative and discussed the importance of recognizing when they are being influenced by others. Through an interactive worksheet and group discussion, they explored what makes a good friend, what makes a healthy relationship, and how to confidently make their own decisions, even when others may be encouraging them to do something different.

One of our biggest messages today was simple: You don’t have to follow the crowd. You have the power to think for yourself, make positive choices, and surround yourself with people who encourage.

Today, our youth had the opportunity to participate in a hands-on CPR, First Aid & AED Training Workshop led by members of the Elizabeth Fire Department (EFD).

Our mentees learned important skills that could one day help them save a life, including how to:

-Perform CPR and properly use an AED
-Check for a pulse and determine if someone is breathing
-Properly call 911 and communicate during an emergency
-Respond when a loved one or someone nearby is choking
-Understand basic first aid and what to do until help arrives

These are more than just skills for today, they are tools our youth can carry with them for the rest of their lives.

A huge THANK YOU to the Elizabeth Fire Department for volunteering their time, sharing their knowledge, and investing in our young people. We truly appreciate your commitment to keeping our community educated, prepared, and safe.

💜🩵 SEPTEMBER IS SU***DE AWARENESS MONTH 🩵💜

As our children head back to school, we’re focused on new teachers, new schedules, homework, sports, grades, and making sure they have everything they need.

But let’s make sure we’re checking on something just as important… their mental and emotional well-being.

Back-to-school season can bring excitement, but for some young people it can also bring anxiety, bullying, peer pressure, loneliness, academic stress, and the feeling that they have to fit in.

At Team Interrupters Inc., we encourage parents, teachers, mentors, coaches, and community members to check in with our youth and really listen.

Ask more than “How was school?”
Ask “How are YOU doing?”
Ask “Is there anything bothering you?”
Ask “Do you feel safe and supported?”

Sometimes the child who says the least needs someone to listen the most. 💜

As we send our children back into the classroom, let’s remind them that their grades matter, their education matters, but most importantly, THEIR LIFE MATTERS.

Today, we recognize and celebrate the hardworking men and women whose dedication, sacrifice, and commitment help keep our families, communities, and country moving forward.

At Team Interrupters Inc., we also want to give a special salute to the parents, educators, mentors, community leaders, first responders, essential workers, and everyone who continues to pour into our youth and our neighborhoods.

Enjoy your day, spend time with those you love, and take a moment to appreciate the work you’ve put in. You deserve it!

Saturday, September 5th

Students can receive backpacks, school supplies, and gift cards, plus enjoy food, games, and fun activities!

In collaboration, we will be contributing approximately 50–60 $25 Back-to-School Gift Cards.
Gift cards are first come, first served, and children MUST be present.

Team Interrupters Inc. would like to wish all of our young students a great, productive, fun, and successful school year!

As we transition from summer back into the classroom, remember that success starts with structure and good habits. One of the most important things our youth can do is get back on a consistent bedtime schedule. A good night’s rest helps with focus, energy, behavior, attendance, and being prepared to learn each day.

Parents, let’s help our youth get back into a healthy routine like bedtime, wake-up time, breakfast, school, homework, and some time to enjoy being a kid. Structure doesn’t mean they can’t have fun, but it helps create the balance they need to succeed.

To all of our students heading back to school: Stay focused, make good decisions, ask for help when you need it, and GIVE THIS SCHOOL YEAR YOUR ALL! 🌟

🎒📚 Another Year, Another Success! 🙌🏾

Team Interrupters Inc. would like to thank everyone who helped make our Back-to-School Giveaway another success!
