Meet Isabel, one of our dedicated volunteers whose warmth, compassion, and commitment to community shine through every day at Josephine’s Place. 💛

After graduating from college, Isabel was looking for a way to give back. Having spent much of her time managing a campus nonprofit, she understood the importance of service and wanted to continue making a difference in the lives of others.

What began as helping our staff make reminder calls to participants quickly grew into meaningful relationships with the women and youth of Josephine’s Place. Over time, Isabel has supported our Business Exposition by canvassing Elizabeth Avenue and connecting with local businesses, encouraged our youth to pursue higher education and explore their interests, and helped create welcoming spaces for our weekly yoga classes through her dedication to hospitality.

More than anything, Isabel brings kindness wherever she goes. Through every conversation, smile, and heartfelt "¡Qué linda!", she reminds the women in our community of their worth, beauty, and strength. It is this spirit of hospitality and genuine connection that helps make Josephine’s Place feel like home.

Thank you, Isabel, for showing us that community is built through compassion, patience, and simply showing up for one another. ✨

✨Volunteer Spotlight✨ Today, we’re highlighting Ariana Montoya, whose creativity, care, and dedication have touched the Josephine’s Place community for more than 5 years.

Ariana’s journey at Josephine’s Place began with teaching English to women, helping families understand the FAFSA and navigate higher-education financial aid, and leading Mommy & Me scrapbooking and other activities. Through every role, she has shared her knowledge, compassion, and deep belief in the power of community.

This year, Ariana brought another passion to Josephine’s Place: theater. As the teaching artist behind Josephine’s Plays: In My Own Words, she spent months working alongside participants to help transform pieces of their lived experiences into original scripts. Through storytelling, creativity, and trust, women found space to share their voices and experiences in deeply meaningful ways.

That journey came to life during our May 1st performance of “Josephine’s Plays: Story Circle," a beautiful reflection of courage, connection, and stories told in their own words.

Thank you, Ariana, for creating spaces where women feel heard, seen, and empowered to share their truth. We are so grateful for all you bring to our community.

From exploring beautiful exhibits to sharing meaningful conversations and moments of inspiration, this trip was filled with creativity, connection, and joy. We’re grateful for opportunities like these that encourage learning, reflection, and community togetherness. 💜

📦 Community in action! ISTG recently delivered donations to our friends at Josephine's Place , bringing over 200 bras & nearly 800 menstrual hygiene products to support women in our community.

We’re so grateful to everyone who donated, shared, & helped make this possible... especially ThirdLove who contributed to the bras. Together, we’re reducing stigma, promoting dignity, & showing what care in action looks like. 🩵🩷

❄️Weather Alert - Josephine’s Place Closed Monday!❄️

Good evening, Ladies. We hope you are all doing well. Because of the expected snowstorm, Josephine’s Place will be closed on Monday, February 23, 2026.

There will be no Sewing, Parent Café, or English classes that day.

We will reopen on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at 10:00 AM.

Please stay warm and safe during the storm. We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday! 💙
