Two Pete Leeman Scholarships are offered by the USCG Helicopter Rescue Swimmer Association. These scholarships provide career-minded individuals with financial assistance to develop professionally and to serve in fields that benefit others in society.
This scholarship is designated to fund college and technical school scholarships for children of
active duty or retired USCG Helicopter Rescue Swimmers or USCG fixed and rotor wing aircrew.
This scholarship is developed to assist students in university, college, or training center
environments.

Good evening brothers and sisters. It is with a heavy heart that I tell you ASMC ret Gary Parsons passed away yesterday. The CGHRSA is reaching out to see how we might help comfort his family. Please keep Michelle and his family in your thoughts and prayers. Gary and I were A school instructors together and I have nothing but fond memories of our time at ATTC. May God grant him rest.

Today, a Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk aircrew from Air Station Sitka crashed near Harbor Mountain during a local training flight.
All four crew members aboard were located by Sitka Fire and Rescue, transported to Mt. Edgecumbe Medical Center, and thankfully, no deaths have been reported.
The Coast Guard Helicopter Rescue Swimmer Association expresses profound gratitude for their survival and want to thank the Sitka Fire and Rescue Teams for their diligence and professionalism, in what is a history of working with Air station Sitka for many years. The USCG Rescue Swimmer Community, active and retired, stand in solidarity with the aircrew, families, and the crew at Air Station Sitka, offering support during the recovery.

Since 1985, AMSEA has provided hands-on and effective training to commercial fishermen, subsistence & recreational boaters, corporations & government agencies, schools & youth groups, and other organizations.”

I am still an (inactive) Marine Safety Trainer, and over the years have taught marine safety classes to commercial fishermen, Coast Guard personnel, at high schools, logging camps, even Antarctica!

Butch Flythe, (who is also an AMSEA Marine Safety Instructor) co-taught a class with me in Page, Arizona years ago.
AMSEA provides marine safety training across the US by training instructors who can then teach in their own areas and is recruiting retired USCG personnel to attend a Marine Safety Instructor Training in Monterey, CA during a week in either June, July, or August. They are looking to recruit trainees to attend this class
MSIT (Marine Safety Instructor Trainer) course, and then make themselves available to teach classes in the Gulf area, and the S.E. U.S.

Currently AMSEA only has one active instructor who travels to teach Drill Conductor classes in the Gulf and Southeast U.S. He is based out of Florida.

AMSEA is holding a Marine Safety Instructor Training in Monterey, CA during a week in either June, July, or August, and is looking to recruit trainees to attend this class. I’m going to attach the flyer they sent along that has contact information.

I always enjoyed teaching these classes. And with our background and experience as USCG Rescue Swimmers/Aircrew, our experience and knowledge makes us naturals at this kind of training.
