Since 1985, AMSEA has provided hands-on and effective training to commercial fishermen, subsistence & recreational boaters, corporations & government agencies, schools & youth groups, and other organizations.”

I am still an (inactive) Marine Safety Trainer, and over the years have taught marine safety classes to commercial fishermen, Coast Guard personnel, at high schools, logging camps, even Antarctica!

Butch Flythe, (who is also an AMSEA Marine Safety Instructor) co-taught a class with me in Page, Arizona years ago.
AMSEA provides marine safety training across the US by training instructors who can then teach in their own areas and is recruiting retired USCG personnel to attend a Marine Safety Instructor Training in Monterey, CA during a week in either June, July, or August. They are looking to recruit trainees to attend this class
MSIT (Marine Safety Instructor Trainer) course, and then make themselves available to teach classes in the Gulf area, and the S.E. U.S.

Currently AMSEA only has one active instructor who travels to teach Drill Conductor classes in the Gulf and Southeast U.S. He is based out of Florida.

AMSEA is holding a Marine Safety Instructor Training in Monterey, CA during a week in either June, July, or August, and is looking to recruit trainees to attend this class. I’m going to attach the flyer they sent along that has contact information.

I always enjoyed teaching these classes. And with our background and experience as USCG Rescue Swimmers/Aircrew, our experience and knowledge makes us naturals at this kind of training.

If you are interested, use the QR code on the flyer or contact the Program Director at AMSEA, Leann Cyr at [email protected].

The outpouring of generosity for the Jaggers Family and the crew of Air Station Astoria in the past few days is overwhelming. Your giving to this family will enable the CGHRSA and other organizations such as the CGAA to support this family however needed. We don't know what that assistance will look like yet, but I do know that when called upon we'll be able to respond as required, and then some. In the three years the CGHRSA has existed, I never cease to be amazed at how this Coast Guard family comes together to help one of their own, and their families. As things move forward we'll standby to do what's needed, to our full capacity. Again, thank you for stepping forward to be there for one of our own.

Standing With Our Brother
The Coast Guard Helicopter Rescue Swimmer Association asks our entire Brotherhood, our families, and our extended Coast Guard community to come together in support and prayer for one of our own.
Aviation Survival Technician Second Class (AST2) Tyler Jaggers, Rescue Swimmer #1087, stationed at Coast Guard Air Station Astoria, Oregon, has been involved in a tragic incident and is currently on life support.
Tyler's parents are at his side. The United States Coast Guard is providing aircraft to transport Tyler and his family back to the United States. We are deeply grateful for the Coast Guard's unwavering commitment to taking care of its own during this critical time.
Tyler is our Brother. He answered a calling that few possess the courage, the strength, or the heart to pursue. As a United States Coast Guard Rescue Swimmer, Tyler has dedicated his life to the service of others, training relentlessly, deploying fearlessly, and living the sacred oath of our community: So Others May Live.
To the Jaggers family, you do not walk this road alone. The entire Rescue Swimmer Brotherhood stands with you.
To Tyler's aircrew and the team at Air Station Astoria, we see you, and we stand with you.
To our Brotherhood, we come together now for Tyler. Keep Tyler and the Jaggers family in your prayers and in your hearts. Whether through prayer, through faith, through thought, or through presence, surround this family and this aircrew with every ounce of strength and love this Brotherhood has to give.
The CGHRSA is actively coordinating support for the Jaggers family and the aircrew at Air Station Astoria. Details regarding ways to provide direct support will be shared as they become available.
