Thursday, June 4th, Dream Hunt hosted kids from Hertford and Currituck county for our Exploring River, Sound, and Woodlands camp. The kids learned about forestry, power lines, wildlife, state parks and many other things. Thank you to our students and chaperones, as well as a very special thanks to our educators, we can't do it without y'all!

We want to take a moment to thank our incredible community. Because of the generosity of bidders at our Dream Hunt & Fishing Program Annual Banquet last month, we were able to raise $20,000 to support two local families in their fight against cancer. What an amazing example of a community that comes together when it matters most!

A very special thank you to Selwin Hunt Club for their partnership and support for this benefit. To everyone who attended and placed bids to benefit these families, your kindness has made a real difference. Please continue to pray for both the Meiggs and Bunch families as they continue through their journey.

We are so grateful for the community we have, and being able to show these families they are not fighting alone!

Catch up time. On May 15 Dream Hunt & Fishing Program and Jennette’s Pier Educational Department hosted a camp for students from Pasquotank County JC Sawyer 1st graders. The students had a great and fun day of learning. First they got to learn how to fish from the pier with some luck, dissecting squid and beach touring to identify ocean and sand animals. This was a lot of the students first time on a pier and even more of them’s first time catching a fish. There are no words to say about the looks on a young kids face catching their first fish. I am sure there are some still smiling.

On May 20 Dream Hunt & Fishing Program and Jennette’s Pier Educational Department hosted a camp on Jennette’s Pier for 5th graders from Sheep Harney Elementary School in Pasquotank County. The students learned how to fish from the pier, identify ocean aquatic and water filtration. This was the first time for some of the students to visit the Outer Banks and a lot more of them’s first time fishing, which turned out to be one of the best for students that we hosted this year. The students had studied water filtration prior to their trip and could answer most of the questions from the educational staff. Great work teachers.
This was our last camps to Jennette’s Pier until the fall.
We are so very lucky to live this close to the Outer Banks and fortunate to have the smartest Aquatic Educators teaching our students. I would like to give a big Thank You to the Educational Staff at Jennette’s Pier and we are very proud to be partners with you. The students in Northeastern North Carolina are the only students in North Carolina to get to experience this amazing program. Thank You to all the teachers, parents, volunteers and Sam for all your help with this camp. Lastly Thank You to the NCCFoundation for giving Dream Hunt & Fishing the grants that allowed us to take a total of 2,054 students to the camps this year. We are excited and can’t wait for fall camps at Jennette’s Pier.

Dream Hunt & Fishing Program would like to Thank the NC Potato Festival for hosting another GREAT event and asking us to be a part of it. We had thousands of people visit us and learn about what we are doing for our youth in Northeastern North Carolina . We enjoyed being a part of the this year’s festival. A GREAT job by the community, staff, volunteers and supporters.
