In need of a mask? Come grab a free one today! (Donation to Fair Tide Housing assistance appreciated too)

FROM MICHELE MEYER:
One after another of you placed your hand sewn masks into the back of my car today and we have gathered many masks sewn with loving hands by Eliot makers. I cannot thank you enough for your kindness & generosity.
Tomorrow, Tuesday 4.21, from 11 - 1, I will be at Sandy Hill Farm where Farmer Bill Widi has graciously agreed to let me set up a table to distribute masks to all who need/want them. The farm is at 34 Sandy Hill Lane (off River Rd, Eliot), go here https://www.facebook.com/seacoastcsa/ to like his page and get directions if you are unsure of its location.
I have more than 100 adult and 50 child sized masks. My light blue Subaru will be parked facing you as you come up his dirt drive and before you round the bend to his barn where he is distributing food for pickup. I will have a table set up 6 feet from my car, park in front of it. Let me know how many adult and kid-sized masks you would like and I will place the bagged masks (using gloves, of course) on the table for you to take.
The masks are free. If you are able and are compelled to do so, a donation may be made to Fair Tide, the local organization providing assistance to those in Eliot and surrounding communities struggling with housing insecurity & homelessness. I will have a jar for donations of cash or checks made out to Fairtide. Or you may donate at their website: Fairtide.org
I will set up another day this week (as long as I have masks to distribute) in the Eliot Town Hall parking lot. And I can deliver to you as well, if you are unable to get out.

Update from Marshwood School District:
Good afternoon,

On April 1, 2020, the State of Maine received a waiver that expanded some of the rules surrounding feeding students under the Summer Food Service Program.

As part of this waiver, all meals (including our existing delivery service) are now available to all families free of charge for all children under the age of 18 beginning April 1, 2020.

As part of this waiver, we are also pleased to announce additional feeding sites are being opened at all of our District School Buildings. Our drive-thru program which began March 30, 2020, and is happening at Eliot Elementary School and Central Elementary School, will be available beginning April 6, 2020, at all of our other school buildings including Marshwood Great Works School, Marshwood Middle School, and Marshwood High School. We will have all of these locations open for meal pick up between 8:30 am and 11:00 am. With the addition of the 3 satellite sites, if you no longer need delivery service please let us know.

Meals can be picked up at any of our school buildings free of charge for any person under the age of 18. For your own safety and for the safety of our Food Service Employees, we ask that you keep your windows closed, indicate how many meals you need, and then open your trunk. We will be maintaining at least 6 feet of social distance, and minimize contact with you during your pick-up.

Thank you!

Marshwood Food Service Program

We are here for ALL children in Eliot and South Berwick. As was before school buildings were closed, we continue to partner with the Marshwood School District to distribute a free bag of food on Fridays to help families experiencing financial hardship feed their children through the weekends. End 68 Hours of Hunger has no income requirements and no paper work to file and your confidentiality is of the upmost importance to us. PM us here or email Laura Parker at [email protected] to receive food.

Also, below is a message, sent out today from Marshwood Superintendent John Caverly,

"All members of our community are experiencing challenges due to this pandemic. Therefore, MSAD 35 will be offering an expanded opportunity through our food service department. Also beginning Monday, March 30, 2020, Eliot Elementary School and Central Elementary School will establish a free drive-through meal pick-up program between 9:00 am and 11:00 am. This will allow families the opportunity to visit either school and receive a breakfast and lunch at no charge for anyone in their household 18 or under, whether they attend Marshwood or not. We will also continue to offer our traditional meal program and meal drop off that was established last week. If your situation has changed and you would like to apply for free or reduced price meals, please use this link: http://www.rsu35.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/Free-and-Reduced-Price-School-Meal-Application-for-SY-2019.pdf"
