Elgin's Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association (CPAAA) is a not-for-profit organization boasting more than 70 members who support the department through volunteerism and fundraising. Upon successful completion of the Citizens Police Academy, graduates may apply to become members of CPAAA. The alumni group is for individuals who want to continue their involvement with their police department. They meet bimonthly for continuing education on a law enforcement topic and then hold their business meeting. They support the police by providing appreciation meals (Police Memorial Week, Crock Pot Night and Thanksgiving), volunteering within the Department on needed tasks, and assisting with police special events. CPAAA members are ambassadors for the police department, as they serve out in the community on behalf of EPD or simply share what they have learned about EPD with their family, friends, neighbors, coworkers and others! Museum Committee
The CPAAA encourages visitors to the Elgin police department to explore the K-9 display and the eight lobby cases that host the department's history - from 1836 to present. All of the cases have been created and are maintained by the CPAAA Museum Committee. This Committee has devoted over 2600 hours to working on these displays since they started in 2006!
