Wildfire season is here! Let's work together together to keep Elgin Safe.

One of the most important things we can do to protect our homes, families, and neighbors is to create and maintain defensible space by cleaning up yard debris, trimming overgrown vegetation, and removing potential ignition sources around our properties.

Did you know that the first 0–5 feet around your home should be kept free of flammable materials and debris? Taking small steps now can make a big difference during wildfire season.

♻️ Need a place to take your yard debris?

🚛 The City of Elgin currently has FREE dumpsters available to help residents with cleanup efforts.

🌲 The Transfer Site – Yard Debris Disposal
FREE for Elgin residents!
(Proof of Elgin address required.)
Non-resident rates:
• First 350 pounds – $5.00
• Each additional 50 pounds – $1.00

🕘 Transfer Site Hours:
Saturday | 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Now is the perfect time to tackle those weeds, rake up pine needles, trim shrubs, remove dead vegetation, and clear combustible materials from around your home.

Together, we can help reduce wildfire risk and create a safer, stronger community for everyone.

❤️ A little cleanup today can make a big difference tomorrow. Let's do our part to keep Elgin safe.
