⛳ A hole-in-one for our community!

Yesterday, the organizers of the Wish You Were Here Foundation Golf Outing stopped by PADS of Elgin to present us with a check for an incredible $5,000!

We are so grateful to everyone who helped make this event possible — from the organizers to the golfers and supporters who came together for a great cause.

This generous donation will help PADS of Elgin continue providing shelter, meals, and housing-focused support to individuals and families experiencing homelessness in our community.

Thank you to the entire Wish You Were Here Golf Outing team for turning a day on the course into a meaningful impact for our neighbors! 💙

Did you know that October 8th is DAF Day — a national day of giving through donor-advised funds?

If you have a donor-advised fund, you already have charitable dollars set aside to make a difference. A grant to PADS of Elgin can help provide safe shelter, meals, essential resources, and housing-focused support for our neighbors experiencing homelessness.

📣 Young professionals — come hang out with us tonight!

PADS of Elgin is launching our new Emerging Leaders Council, a group for young professionals ages 18–30 who want to connect, get involved, and make a difference in our community.

Join us TONIGHT, October 7, from 5:30–6:30 PM at Grumpy Goat to hear more, meet other young people in the community, and help shape what this group becomes.

There’s no expectation that you commit just by showing up — come grab a drink or bite, meet some people, and join the conversation.

We’ll be talking about upcoming volunteer and fundraising opportunities, social events, and ways Emerging Leaders can support PADS while building their own community and connections.

Less than one week away! 🎉

Join us for the first gathering of the **PADS of Elgin Emerging Leaders Council** on **Wednesday, October 7 from 5:30–6:30 PM at Grumpy Goat Tavern**.

This will be an informal chance to meet other young professionals and community members, learn more about PADS, and help shape what this new group can become.

Emerging Leaders will have opportunities to support events, organize community fundraisers and meetups, create social media content, connect PADS with local businesses, volunteer, and bring new ideas to the table.

If you’re looking for a meaningful way to get involved in the community, build connections, and make an impact, we’d love to have you join the conversation.

Still making plans for Friday, October 9? Here are five excellent reasons to join us for Bullets, Nickels, Dimes and Life:

This October, local theatre is showing up for PADS of Elgin.

Director Pat Henderson is leading two productions that connect the stage with support for the work we do here and the new beginnings we are able to witness.

🎭 From Dust by Eli Campbell runs Oct. 2–4 and 8–10 at The Lodge Performing Arts Center. Through “Stock Our Set, Stock Their Shelves,” real pantry items will be used as bunker set dressing and donated to PADS after the show closes.

🎭 Bullets, Nickels, Dimes and Life by Jeremy Kehoe runs Oct. 9–11 at Habitat for Humanity of Northern Fox Valley. The Oct. 9 performance benefits PADS of Elgin, with a complimentary reception featuring treats from Sugar and Rhyme Coffeehouse at 6:30 p.m. before the 7 p.m. show.

Both productions take place around World Homeless Day on Oct. 10, turning awareness into meaningful community support.

We’re grateful to Pat, the casts, crews and community partners using theatre to support PADS.

On Monday evening, members of the cast of Bullets, Nickels, Dimes and Life stopped by PADS of Elgin for a tour of the shelter before heading to Sugar and Rhyme coffeehouse for rehearsal.

We’re so grateful they took the time to see firsthand what happens here every day — from our sleeping spaces and case management offices to the resources and support that help our guests work toward stable housing.

This production is about more than putting on a show. The Friday, October 9 performance will benefit PADS of Elgin, helping provide shelter, meals and support for individuals and families experiencing homelessness in our community.

A huge thank you to director Pat Henderson and the entire cast for choosing to use their talents to support our mission — and for taking the time to learn more about the people and work behind it.

We’re still smiling after Hops for Homes Oktoberfest — and we now have an update to share!

At this point, we believe the event raised $15,771.75 for PADS of Elgin. Thank you to everyone who attended, sponsored, volunteered, donated, bought raffle tickets, participated in Fund-a-Need, or simply helped spread the word.

And if you meant to give but didn’t get a chance, it’s not too late.

Our Move Out Basket-a-thon giving levels are still active, and you can also make a general donation to support our grocery Fund-a-Need. Both help meet very practical needs for the individuals and families we serve.
