Our new webpage is now active! You can find us, as always, at www.pascoaudubon.com. Huge thanks to Kimberly Snaric, for her vision and generosity in taking on this project, and to Karl Enero for his hard work and expertise in making it a reality. Thanks also to our new webmaster, Phil Duncan, for taking it over!. And it would be remiss not to send out our sincere thanks also to Mike Kell, our outgoing webmaster, for his effort and support on our former site over many years. We're so lucky to have a great team. We hope you enjoy the new site.

Join us this Saturday morning (August 1st) for our monthly birding walk in Jay B. Starkey WIlderness Park. Meet up in the Education Center parking lot for a 7:30am start. We'll be hoping to see some early migrants this morning. Bring your binoculars and/or camera, bug spray, water and it's a good idea to wear closed-toed shoes. Free (as always) and all are very welcome!

Many thanks to Rick and Jarret Chamberlain, Joe Colontonio and Bob Burkard for their work in restoring the bird blind on Grassy Lake! Although it is only 6 years old there was rot that would have been very destructive had it not been replaced. Many hours were spent to ensure that the blind is safe and strong for many years to come. And Rick took home and refinished the bench that he made when the blind first opened, so it looks wonderful. And thanks also to park manager Tim Perkins and Pasco Pasco County Parks, Recreation, and Natural Resources for the materials to make this possible.

Want to see it in person? Our walk this Saturday (June 6th) will definitely stop by the blind for a while. Meet up in the Starkey Environmental Education Center parking lot at 7:30am for a bird walk. Free and all are welcome. Don't forget your binoculars and water!

Thanks to all for a very enjoyable walk in the park yesterday morning. While we didn't see the migrating wood warblers we'd hoped for, we still saw some lovely birds out there. Special thanks to Phil Duncan for sharing his lovely photographs!

Join us tomorrow morning (Saturday, May 2nd) for a birding walk in Starkey Park. We'll meet up in the Education Center parking lot, and will head out at 8am. The walk should be 1-2 miles and will last approximately 2 hours. It's still Spring migration, so some cool birds are possible! The photo below, an Ovenbird, was seen during migration a couple of years ago.

We have some major thanks to express for those who made our photography competition happen. First and foremost, thanks to Hal Sigurdsson, the competition coordinator, who spent endless hours planning and investing in making the competition the success is was!
Next - thanks to our judges who put in so much effort to consider carefully each photograph on a variety of measures. For the main competition the judges were Janet Litzel, John Middleton, and John Stalter. Thank you also to Timothy Perkins of Jay B. Starkey Wilderness Park, who judged the Starkey Park Award, and finally to Patricia Goldberg, for her careful consideration, judging, and presenting of the Conservation Award.

Congratulations to our Conservation Award winner, Dave Walz, and to our two honorable mentions, Noriko Buckles and Ron Buening II. This year each entry in the category had the chance to enter text explanation alongside the photograph. If you click on each of the photographs below, you can read about the conservation issue that the photographers were addressing.
