❤️ A Legacy of Hope. A Future in God’s Hands. ❤️
In 1994, twenty-one years after the founding of Camp Penuel, Inc., Harry Douma, along with the generosity of a local businessman who donated land in Eldred, Pennsylvania, established Camp Penuel East.

The vision was simple then, and it remains the same 31 years later: to provide FREE summer camp for children while sharing the life-changing love of Jesus Christ.

For more than three decades, hundreds of children have walked the grounds of Camp Penuel East each year. They come to enjoy swimming, boating, hiking, sports, crafts, nature activities, and countless adventures. But what they find is so much more than outdoor fun.

They discover friendship.
They find belonging.
They experience encouragement.
Most importantly, they encounter the love of Jesus—not only through lessons and chapel services, but through the lives of counselors, staff, directors, and volunteers who pour into them week after week.

Camp Penuel East has never been just a camp. It is a ministry. It is a mission field. It is a place where seeds of faith are planted and lives are forever changed.

As we look toward the future, we are asking our brothers and sisters in Christ to lock arms with us in prayer.

🙏 Pray for the staff and volunteers who will serve them.
🙏 Pray for wisdom and direction for leadership.
🙏 Pray for provision for every need.
🙏 Pray that lives will be transformed by the power of the Gospel.
🙏 Pray that Camp Penuel East will continue to be a lighthouse of hope for generations to come.

Many of the children who attend each year come from inner-city communities and difficult circumstances where positive influences can be hard to find. They need caring adults who will invest in them, encourage them, and show them the love of Christ.

The future of Camp Penuel East is not built by one person. It is built by the prayers, support, and faithfulness of God’s people working together for His Kingdom.

🏕️ Exciting News from Camp Penuel East! 🏕️

Camp Penuel East is entering a new chapter under the leadership of Gary and Debbie Moyer!

For Gary, this ministry is more than a camp—it’s a lifelong calling. His parents helped Rev. Douma establish Camp Penuel in the early 1970s. Gary served as one of the first lifeguards at Camp Penuel in Ironton, Missouri, in 1973. His children have served on staff, and now his granddaughter is serving as well, making four generations of the Moyer family dedicated to the Camp Penuel ministry.

For more than 32 years, Camp Penuel East has been serving children in Eldred, Pennsylvania, and together the Camp Penuel ministries have impacted over 120,000 underprivileged and inner-city children over the past 53 years.

As we step into this new season, we are launching Project UpLift, an effort to restore and improve our camp facilities. Planned projects include cabin renovations, water system repairs, and other much-needed upgrades to ensure Camp Penuel East remains a safe and welcoming place for children for years to come.

We believe every child deserves a place where they can experience hope, encouragement, friendship, and the love of Jesus Christ.

Camp Penuel East would like to extend our heart felt condolences and prayers for the Mapes family and those at Healing Reigns Fellowship in Killbuck, NY. Pastor Wally Mapes was recieved into the arms of Jesus this morning.

Pastor Mapes was a friend of Camp Penuel East, and was there with our founder and others at the groundbreaking ceremony almost 32 years ago to dedicate the land of Camp Penuel East in Eldred, PA! Pastor Mapes will be remembered for his kindness and love, his heart for evangelism and his encouragement to our camp to keep on pressing forward into Jesus! He will be greatly missed, but we rejoice today knowing that he is in heaven experiencing the joy that he so often talked about. Many blessings to his wife Ruth Mapes and the Mapes family. We are praying for you.
