The Eldorado Rotary Club welcomed Chris Dennis, Recovery Services Program Manager for the Recovery Resource Center at Egyptian Health Department, as our guest speaker this week.

Chris shared information about recovery services available throughout Saline, Gallatin and White counties for those struggling with substance use, as well as support for their families. He noted that alcohol continues to be the most commonly abused substance they encounter.

Anyone can call Egyptian Health Department directly at 618-273-3326 for a referral, and staff can even help with transportation to appointments. Thank you, Chris, for sharing more about these important resources available in our communities!

What do you gain from joining Rotary? Quite a lot — while giving back at the same time.

Rotary brings together people from different professions, backgrounds and experiences who share a desire to make their communities better. Along the way, members build friendships and professional connections, develop leadership skills, learn from guest speakers and one another, and discover new ways to serve.

For Eldorado Rotary members, that service takes many forms. Recently, members rolled up their sleeves to help pull BBQ for the 4C’s Food Pantry fundraiser in Harrisburg. Other Rotary fundraising efforts allow the club to give financial support to organizations doing important work throughout our area.

And somewhere between the meetings, fundraisers, service projects and conversations, connections are made that might never have happened otherwise. 💙

🧵 Sew, stitch, crochet, quilt — or come learn something new!

Kendra Zirkelbach and Arla Murphy of Stitches Society spoke to the Eldorado Rotary Club today about the new group, which brings together people interested in sewing and needlework of all kinds. From quilting and embroidery to cross-stitch, crochet, knitting, English paper piecing and more, both experienced crafters and beginners who want to learn are welcome. 🪡🧶

Want to check it out? Their next meeting is Saturday, Aug. 29, from 10:30 a.m.-noon at the Harrisburg District Library. The group meets on the fourth Saturday of each month.

Today’s Rotary speaker, Katie Duvall, MS, Wellness Coordinator at Ferrell Hospital, shared a little about the hospital’s Well@Work program and the many wellness resources available to area employers and employees. 💙

Katie’s passion for supporting healthier workplaces and communities came through as she discussed ways Ferrell Hospital helps make wellness more accessible right where people work.

Happy 103rd Birthday, Eldorado Rotary Club! 🎉

When the club was founded in 1923, Model Ts and horse-drawn buggies shared the roads, radios were just beginning to bring the world into people's homes, and Rotary members were already finding ways to serve their community.

More than a century later, the Eldorado Rotary Club is still living out the Rotary motto of Service Above Self, making a difference in the lives of countless people throughout our region.

Happy 103rd birthday to a club with an amazing legacy of service! 💙💛
