Many people don’t know where the name Via Dolorosa comes from.

They hear it
 and they wonder—

Why would you name a recovery center something like that?

What does that even mean?

The Via Dolorosa is the path that Jesus walked after He was sentenced to death

from the place where they shouted “Crucify Him”
to the place where He was crucified.

It’s the road where He carried His cross.

Where He stumbled.
Where He fell under the weight of it.
Where someone was called to step in and help Him carry it.

And it led all the way to the place
where He laid down His life for us

and said, “It is finished.”

That path is called the Via Dolorosa—
and translated, it means “the way of suffering.”

So why would we name a recovery center after that?

Because the Word calls us to pick up our cross and follow Him.

And it never promised that road would be easy.

There are going to be moments where you stumble.

Moments where you fall.

Moments where the weight feels like too much to carry.

But just like on that road

God sends people to help carry it with you.

And that’s what we are here to do.

Because walking away from the past isn’t easy.
Carrying what you’ve been through isn’t easy.
Laying it down at the foot of the cross—
and surrendering your life to the will of God—
that isn’t easy either.

But it’s worth it.

Because on the other side of that surrender

is freedom.

And today—this quiet, in-between day—
when the world once sat in silence, unsure of what would come next

We hold onto what we know:

Sunday is coming.

And with it came freedom—
freedom that was bought with a price
by our Savior.

“Then He said to them all: ‘Whoever wants to be My disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow Me.’”
— Luke 9:23

The Silence

I didn’t get to post yesterday

but honestly, sitting in it today feels right.

Because that’s what this part of the story is.

Yesterday was Good Friday.

And there’s nothing about it that feels “good” on the surface.

Jesus was beaten.
Mocked.
Crucified.

The same people who shouted “Hosanna”
stood there and chose death instead.

And He knew it was coming.

He felt every bit of it
and still chose to go through with it.

Not because it was easy.
Not because He wanted to suffer.
But because He was obedient to the will of the Father.

And now today

Everything is quiet.

This is the part we don’t talk about as much.
The in-between.

The space where it feels like everything has fallen apart

where prayers feel unanswered

where it looks like the story is over.

The disciples didn’t know Sunday was coming.

All they knew was that everything they had hoped in looked like it had just died.

And I think that’s where a lot of people find themselves—
right here.

In the silence.
In the waiting.
In the “this doesn’t make sense” part of the story.

But just because it’s quiet

doesn’t mean God isn’t moving.

Just because it looks like the end

doesn’t mean it is.

Sunday’s coming.

Jesus walked into the temple

and overturned the tables.

Not out of anger without purpose—
but to restore what had been corrupted.

He saw what didn’t belong
in a place that was meant to be holy

and He didn’t ignore it.

He addressed it.

And the truth is—
God still does that.

Sometimes He will disrupt things in our lives
before He begins to rebuild them.

Addiction. Lies. Chaos. Broken patterns.

There are things that cannot stay
where God is trying to move.

And even when it feels uncomfortable

even when it feels like everything is being turned upside down

there is purpose in it.

Because God doesn’t tear things down to leave us there—

He does it to make room for something new.

And that’s the kind of work we believe in.

🌿 Palm Sunday – Via Dolorosa

Today is Palm Sunday, and it marks the beginning of Holy Week.

This is the week where everything begins to unfold
not just the celebration of who Jesus is, but the reality of what it would cost.

When Jesus entered Jerusalem, He was welcomed. People were excited. They were shouting “Hosanna,” laying down palm branches, honoring Him as King. In that moment, it looked like victory. It looked like everything was going the way they thought it should.

But what gets me every time is this—
it didn’t take long for things to shift.

Within that same week, some of those same voices that praised Him would turn around and call for His crucifixion.

And the part that humbles me the most is that Jesus knew that.

He knew exactly what was coming. He knew the betrayal, the suffering, the rejection, the cross
none of it caught Him off guard. And still—He moved forward.

He didn’t turn around. He didn’t avoid it. He didn’t choose an easier way.

He chose obedience.

He chose to fulfill what God had set before Him
even when it meant walking straight into suffering.

"He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross.”
—Philippians 2:8

And that’s what this week really is about.

It’s not just about what happened back then—it’s about the road He chose to walk.

The Via Dolorosa
 the way of suffering.

And because He walked that road—
there is redemption on the other side of it.

And that’s why this matters to us.

Because we believe God still meets people on that road today

and He doesn’t leave them there.

As we step toward spring, we’re reminded that new life often begins before it’s fully seen. đŸŒ±

At Via Dolorosa, meaningful work is taking place—new growth, renewed vision, and steady progress unfolding one step at a time. Just like the changing season, this journey is marked by patience, preparation, and hope taking root beneath the surface.

“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?”
— Isaiah 43:19

We’re grateful for this season of renewal and for every opportunity to continue creating pathways of hope and restoration.
If you feel led to partner with us, support this work, or learn more about what’s unfolding, we’d love to connect—please reach out.
