ATTENTION
If you are using the horse arena during non class hours, please be sure to leave it as you find it.
This means if you bring barrels, poles, or trail obstacles into the arena, please take it all back out and put them back.
Be sure to close all gates and have them secured.
We strive to keep the facility orderly and maintained through our wonderful volunteers, however everyone doing their part makes it easier!

4-H Livestock IDs are due in 4-H Online by 11:59PM on May 15th! ⏰⏳🍀

📌 All animals being exhibited at the Iowa State Fair or county fairs MUST be identified in 4-H Online by May 15! No late entries are allowed!

Friendly reminder all horses must be ID in 4H online before MAY 15th.

The leaders would like to thank everyone who braved the cold to participate in class last night! We appreciate the great attitudes and willingness to learn from parents siblings and the participants who were riding and watching. Keep up the good work everyone!

Hello everyone!
Tonight is the first riding class for 2026!

Just a few reminders for class
*Class participants are limited to currently enrolled 4H/FFA members
*Helmets are required for all youth participants during class
*No open toe shoes are allowed
*Please dress for the weather! Tonight is not going to be very warm, wear layers, and possibly gloves
*Fly spray is always encouraged

Tonight's class will include a tack check and horsemanship with possibly some overview with showmanship upon request.
We can't wait to see everyone tonight! If you have any questions please reach out to one of the leaders!

Due to the incoming storms, horse class will be held in the cattle barn on the fairgrounds. Horses are optional. We will be working on showmanship and have horseless activities lined up to improve your showmanship techniques and abilities! See you there!

Hello All!
Thursday, April 16th, we are meeting at the Ellsworth Equestrian Center in Iowa Falls. We are going to start the class in the cafeteria area which is located in the south door of the arena. If you have any questions please reach out. The college has an instructive presentation for us followed by a tour.

It was awesome to see new faces and old friends for the 1st Horse class tonight! A huge shout out to Austin Day of Rough Wood Farrier Service for coming to share experiences and knowledge with the group.

Next week will also be held at the Hardin Co. Fairgrounds in the Youth Building. Our guest speaker is Dr. Rachel Franken! Come enjoy learning from an equine veterinarian!

Thursday April 16th we will be meeting at Ellsworth Equine Center in Iowa Falls. We are always so excited for the college tour and lessons we receive!

The following week will be our first class with horses. Please be sure to watch for updates on whether we will be at the arena or in a building.

Hi Everyone!
We are 2 weeks away from our first horse class of 2026!

Thursday, April 2nd we will be meeting for a non horse class at the Youth building on the Hardin County Fairgrounds.

Our classes will begin at 6 pm and run to around 8 pm

Austin Day of Rough Woods Farrier Services is joining us for our first class to be sharing his knowledge and experiences with horse shoeing. We are excited to welcome him as a guest speaker!

Here is the 2026 Horse class schedule
We have one major change for this year. A two day show at Fair! We will be doing all non riding classes the morning of Wednesday July 8 and all riding classes Sunday July 12.
Our classes will again be on Thursdays from 6-8 starting April 2 in the classroom.
April 2, 9, 16 are classroom with TBD speakers
April 23-Showmanship
April 30- Horsemanship
May 7-Western Pleasure
May 14-Trail
May 21-Games
May 28-Ranch & Huntseat
June 4-Trail
June 11- Showmanship
June 18-Horsmanship/WP
June 20-Backroads Show
June 25-TBD
July 2-TBD
July 8-Hardin Co Fair Horse Show
July 12-Hardin Co Fair Horse Show

We are working hard on lining up speakers and clinicians to help all the kids improve and learn this year. Mackenzie Deeringer and Aspyn Rinay are so excited to meet everyone and get to work on having a successful season!
