Eldon Fire & Rescue Department, Eldon IA Eldon,Iowa Fire & Rescue The fire station in Eldon houses two pumpers (401 & 402). A tanker (406) a brush truck (408). Three ATVs and a boat.

We also have a non-transport BLS rescue (414). We are funded funded by the City of Eldon through tax dollars & by donations

Members are not paid at all, they are totally volunteers. They spend their own money in gas to get to the station and at times miss work to go on calls. Their training is paid by the department so there is no cost to them for that. We have very well trained members.

This morning members from Agency Fire, Batavia Fire, Wapello County Rural Fire, and Eldon Fire spent some time at Cardinal Elementary School For fire prevention. As always it was a great time presenting to the students and showing off the trucks. Thank you to our mutual aid partners. It’s always great to work with our neighbors.

We want to say a big thank you to everyone that swam out, er mean, came out to play Bingo at the Old Iron Show this past Saturday. It was a nice turnout and we raised some money for their Work Barn at the Fairgrounds and for Us. The rain may have made things sloppy outside but we had fun in the old Dance Hall.

There was a comment on one of our old posts of someone tagging friends of our department and trying to sell FD shirts. Beware!! This is a scam!! She has been blocked but that won’t keep others from doing it again. Only FD members will sell shirts and we will NOT tag you on FB.

Drafting training this morning.
Every month except June we meet at least once a month to train on firefighting and/or EMS topics.
In firefighting, drafting is the process of using a fire engine’s pump to draw water up from a static, unpressurized source—such as a pond, lake, river, or portable tank—when standard fire hydrants are not available or do not work. This is the case in the country where there are no hydrants.

The Eldon Review, July 3, 1896. THE ELDON FIRE DEPARTMENT.
Eldon has an excellent and finely equipped volunteer Fire Department. It was organized November 3, 1893, and consists of Hose Carts Nos. 1 and 2, with about a thousand feet of Hose, a Chemical Wagon, and Hook & Ladder Trucks. All the apparatus for fighting fire is first class. Dr. S. H. Sawyers was chief for the first two years after its organization, and filled the position most acceptably. W. P. Kremer is the present chief and is a good one.
The fire department had charge of Eldon's 4th of July celebrations last year. It was a grand success. This year they will again have control and it is hoped they will net another nice sum. Our citizens should subscribe liberally to the 4th of July fund.
