A special thank you to Lorie Kiso and the Eldon Firefighter Association for helping make this possible!
Join us as we explore the rich history and dedicated service of the Eldon Fire Department, a cornerstone of our community since its formation in 1905. In "Eldon a Look Back, 1882-1982" we discovered the unique practices from the early days, like evening training sessions on top of the "Big Brick" building at Maple and 1st, where firefighters honed their skills by throwing water onto neighboring structures.
In this video, you'll see the Eldon volunteer and full-time firefighters in a different light. While they're often seen responding to emergencies such as fires, medical rescues, and automobile accidents, this summer they’ve taken on a new role—watering the beautiful flowers in our downtown boxes.
The “extra” efforts of these firefighters truly make the Department exemplary. Beyond their emergency duties, they engage in various community activities:
+Hosting educational programs for children and adults
+Giving tours of the headquarters station and fire trucks
+ Supporting families battling cancer with proceeds from t-shirt sales
One heartwarming moment featured in this video is when an almost seven-year-old boy got the chance to meet real-life firefighters. He shook their hands, learned about their jobs, and had an unforgettable experience.
Volunteers play a crucial role in the success and well being of a community. Their commitment and willingness to go above and beyond make a significant difference in our town. We invite you to celebrate and support our Eldon volunteer firefighters as they continue to serve and enrich our community.
