RAGE POST - Sorry, but ..... the two kittens left with their dead siblings in a box outside our building this week did not make it even though everyone who cared for them tried their very best to save them. This is heartbreaking and takes a huge toll out of everyone who worked with them and also our fellow rescuers who know what we go through in cases like this. This post is not for those of you who love and care for your pets; it's for the ones who do sh*tty things like what happened this week. FREAKING DO BETTER! Animals deserve to be loved and cared for; not abandoned to die in the heat! If you cannot care for an animal, get them fixed, feed them well, keep them healthy, DO NOT GET A PET! And on that note ... stop by and get your free $20 and $30 dollar off spay and neuter vouchers to Dogwood Animal Shelter. This situation could have been prevented if mama cat had been fixed!

Thanks to the generosity of our amazing community we currently have a limited amount of dog and cat food to give out to those in need. One bag per household. Can be picked up at our thrift shop located at 1816 S. Business 54, Eldon (across from Nolt's Dutch Market), Wednesday-Friday 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. or Saturday 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

UPDATE #2 - despite the heroic efforts of Anne and the vet from Meowtown, the two remaining babies did not make it. At least they were together, warm, and loved.

UPDATE- the two surviving kittens are now in the hands of the best bottle feeder in the business, Anne Bishop. Thank you so much Anne for taking these babies and giving them the best chance they have to survive! 🤞🏻🙏🏻. We pray they will make it!

WARNING! Sad content…

I would like to think that whoever dropped off a box of dead and dying kittens at our CLOSED thrift store this morning thought they were doing the right thing. The fact is this situation was sad and heartbreaking! You didn’t even give them a blanket! Just a nasty box to die in outside with no one around. Two of the five surviving kittens are in terrible shape, covered with fly strike and so cold they could not be bottle fed yet. Dumping live animals on rescues is never an answer! Especially when you KNEW we did not open until Wednesday. Do better people!!! This situation was cruel to the kittens and traumatic for our foster! 😡😡😡

COME ON FALL! We are ready! All new-to-you clothes and shoes have been put out so come on in Wednesday-Friday, 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. and Saturday 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and get some great items for yourself and your family! And a special THANK YOU to all of our volunteers who helped make this switch-over possible.

We know it's costly to get your pet fixed but we can help with that! We offer $20 off vouchers for cats and $30 off vouchers for dogs to Dogwood Animal Shelter’s low cost spay and neuter clinic! The vouchers are FREE to you and you can get as many as you need if you have multiple pets. Just stop by the thrift store pick them up. We're open Wednesday-Friday 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. 1816 S. Business 54, Eldon (across from Nolt's Dutch Market).
