Elbert County is bringing home more trophies after the Area 3 Championships were held today at
Chimney Oaks Golf Club in Homer.

The girls played their best round of the year but ultimately fell short of Banks County to finish as the runner-up. Scoring for the Lady Devils were Lucy Johnson and Addi Buffkin. Isabella Adams had her low round of the year and Sophie Lavender came in with her lowest 9 hole score of the year after a rocky start. Every Elbert County girl finished inside the top 11.

The boys finished off their Area Tournament with the lowest score of the season in the state and winning its 4th straight Area Championship. Scoring for the Devils were Nolan Henderson, Madden Drake, Maddox Adams, and Landen Adams. Carson Amabile and Ty Johnson also played very well and turned in some really good scores. Every boy finished inside the top 16 with 4 of them finishing inside the top 8.

Both teams have now qualified for the GHSA State Championships that will be held at Arrowhead Pointe on May 18 and 19.

Finally, with that boys Area Championship win, Madden Drake has officially won the most Post Season awards in Elbert County history. He has won 4 Area Championships and one GHSA State Championship with a chance in four weeks to add to that count as our boys will be the #1 seed heading into the tournament.

The Elbert County Boys and Girls Golf Teams tee it up starting at 10:00 on Monday Morning at Chimney Oaks in Homer in pursuit of an Area 3 Championship. Everyone seems to be peaking at the right time and this should be a very competitive day as both teams hope to claim Area Titles. Tee times and pairings will be posted tomorrow. Good luck to these boys and girls over the next few days. Both teams will leave tomorrow after lunch to attend their practice rounds before play begins on Monday.

Lady Devils Slow Pitch traveled to Wooodstock for Sectionals on Wednesday. In the first game they defeated Franklin but came up short against 2 tough opponents, Creekview and Jefferson. Congratulations to Audrey Lunsford and Bryleigh Dickerson on home runs!
