Are you an informed veterans’ advocate?

Simple steps you can take to understand legislative issues and make a difference on Capitol Hill include:
• Signing up for VFW Action Corps Weekly and answering the call to take action when the VFW sends out alerts.
• Reading and understanding the VFW Priority Goals.
• Contacting your legislators about issues impacting veterans and their families.
• Voting in every local, state and national election you are able.

Finally, after 74 years missing, this soldier has been identified and brought back to be laid at his final resting place at home in Arab, AL. Thank you for your service, U.S. Army Cpl. Waymon Slaten.

Just a reminder that tomorrow, Thursday December 5th, 2024 will be the Celebration of Life for the Auxiliary's Past President, Sandy Keenan. The service will be held at the Elberta VFW Post 5658 at 1:00 pm. For those attending, the post canteen has new hours of operation, so please enter through the front doors facing Hwy 98.

Today, I would like to give a shout out to Ms. Elaine Gabel! Ms. Elaine is one of the most beautiful people I have met since joining the Auxiliary here at Post 5658. She brings a heart full of gentleness, kindness, and a true passion for our Auxiliary and what we do in our efforts to serve Veterans and the community. Ms. Elaine has served in the Post 5658 Auxiliary for over 22 years, in many positions such as President, SEVERAL TIMES! Currently, she is our Auxiliary's Sr-Vice President, Legislative Chairman, and most of all our Mentor! We can never go wrong with the joy, passion, and the wealth of knowledge that she brings into our Auxiliary and lives. Ms. Elaine, WE LOVE YOU!!!
