Today we joyfully celebrate the Nameday of our spiritual father, His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, Archbishop of Constantinople–New Rome. On this blessed feast of St. Bartholomew the Apostle, we lift our hearts in prayer for the good health, strength, and long life of His All-Holiness.

May the Lord grant him abundant years, steadfast health, and the grace of the Holy Spirit, so that he may continue to shepherd the Church with wisdom, compassion, and apostolic courage—for the unity of the faithful and the peace of the world.

As we honor his Patronal Feast, let us offer our heartfelt acclamation:

Many Years!
Εἰς Πολλά Ἕτη, Παναγιώτατε Δέσποτα!

Today, We Put to Rest Abeba Bockrzion Warren

It is with deep sorrow but hope in the Resurrection that we remember Abeba Bockrzion Warren, who entered into eternal rest on May 29, 2026, at the age of 81.

Abeba was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and dear friend to many. Her life was a beautiful reflection of faith, kindness, and unwavering love for her family and community. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

🕊️ May her memory be eternal. ✝️

✨ Ἀναλήφθηκε ὁ Χριστός! Χρόνια Πολλά!

As we celebrate the Feast of the Ascension of our Lord and the Feast of Saints Constantine and Helen, we also joyfully honor all those celebrating today—especially our beloved Metropolitan Constantine on his nameday.

Today we lift up in prayer:

The glory of Christ’s Ascension, who “ascended into the heavens and seated us with Him.”

The faith and legacy of Saints Constantine and Helen, Equal‑to‑the‑Apostles, who established the Christian Empire and discovered the Precious Cross.

And with love, His Eminence Metropolitan Constantine, praying that God grant him many years of health, strength, and wisdom as he shepherds the faithful of our Metropolis.

May the risen and ascended Lord bless His Eminence and may the prayers of Saints Constantine and Helen uphold him in his archpastoral ministry.

Εἰς πολλὰ ἔτη, Δέσποτα! 🙏

🌅 Vesperal Liturgy – May 20

Join us at 5:30 p.m. on the evening of May 20 for a beautiful Vesperal Liturgy celebrating the Dual Feast of the Holy Ascension of our Lord and the Great Sovereigns Constantine and Helen, Equals-to-the-Apostles.

This sacred service invites us to enter into the feast as the new liturgical day begins, uniting the beauty of Vespers with the Divine Liturgy, as the Church passes from one day into the next in the light of Christ’s glory.

In the spirit of the Holy Mountain, the faithful greet one another during this feast with this ancient and joyful proclamation:

✨ “Ἀναλήφθηκε ὁ Χριστός!” (Christ has ascended!)
✨ “Ἀνελήφθηκα κι ἐγώ!” (I also have ascended!)

🕯️ Come lift your hearts with us to Christ, who ascends in glory, raising our human nature to heaven, and honor the Great Sovereigns Constantine and Helen, Equals-to-the-Apostles, through whom the saving Cross was revealed, and the Kingdom of God was proclaimed throughout the world.

💛 A Church Full of Life 💛

In our parish, children are not a distraction; they are a blessing.
Little voices, wandering feet, and joyful energy remind us that the Church is alive and growing.
Our Lord Himself tells us:

“Let the little children come to Me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 19:14)

We welcome families with open hearts, knowing that children learn how to worship by being present, even when that presence is sometimes noisy or restless. At the same time, we are grateful for every member of our community, parents, grandparents, godparents, singles, couples, and elders, each offering patience, love, and prayer for one another.

As beautifully reflected in this reflection from the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese, worship is not about convenience or perfect behavior, but about becoming a true worshipping community, children included:

Church is not about perfect silence or perfect behavior.

It is about belonging, grace, and growing together as one family in Christ.

Thank you for helping make our parish a place where everyone, young and old alike, is welcomed and loved. 🕊️

Congratulations! 🎉

Dr. Yiannis (Jean) Pilihos Kallieri is a longtime parishioner and devoted supporter of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church (El Paso) and St. Sofia Greek Orthodox Church (Mexico City). A law professor and international lawyer, he has devoted his life to faith, education, and service.

More than 40 years ago, Yanni founded the Department of Hellenism at a university in Mexico, opening the door for generations of students to study Greek language, history, philosophy, law, and culture. Recently honored during the Jornadas Helénicas, his legacy continues to bridge Orthodoxy, Hellenism, and learning across borders.

We were also honored that our priest, Protopresbyter Dimitrios Papadimitropoulos, was invited to take part in the ceremony—an occasion that beautifully reflected the enduring connection between faith, scholarship, and Hellenic heritage.

With gratitude and joy, we honor our Dr. Pilihos!

✨ Bright Week: Renewal and New Life ✨

Χριστὸς Aνέστη! Aληθώς Aνέστη!

Bright Week, also called Renewal Week, is the radiant celebration following Pascha, proclaiming Christ’s Resurrection as the beginning of God’s renewed creation. The entire week is fast-free and celebrated as one continuous feast.

📖 See, I am making all things new.”
Revelation 21:5

🌅 Why “Bright”?
Because the Risen Christ is the Light of the world, shining into the darkness of sin and death. I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will not walk in darkness. John 8:12

🕊️ Bright Week and the newly baptized
Bright Week is especially connected to the newly illumined, those baptized before Pascha. Clothed in white garments, they spend this week rejoicing in their new birth in Christ, living as visible signs that the Resurrection is not only remembered but experienced.

✨ Why “Renewal”?
In the Resurrection, Christ restores fallen humanity and makes all things new.
If anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation.
2 Corinthians 5:17

🌿 Bright Week in our lives
This week calls all of us to live like the newly baptized, walking in the light, joy, and hope of the Resurrection.
