The Charitable Foundation was established in 2013 to support the philanthropic goals of individuals, corporations, foundations and nonprofit organizations to improve education, economic development, health and quality of life for people in the Paso del Norte region through Agency Funds, Binational Funds, Donor-Advised Funds, Education Funds, Health Funds and Supporting Organizations. s, the Charitable Foundation has grown to meet the diverse needs of this community by partnering with more than 100 nonprofit organizations – through the Challenge Fund, Agency Funds and El Paso Giving Day.

Meet the intern! 🎥✨ Today, we’re excited to introduce Zahir, who has spent his summer interning with Reconnecting with the Disconnected through the Community Impact Summer Internship Program.

Reconnecting with the Disconnected supports at-risk youth by providing guidance, encouragement, and a path toward positive change when others may have turned them away. We are so proud of Zahir and the work and effort he has put into supporting their mission throughout his internship. Experiences like these give students the opportunity to grow professionally while contributing to the nonprofits making a difference across our region.

A heartfelt thank you to Bank of America and Union Pacific Railroad for their generous support of the Community Impact Summer Internship Program, and to our partner, Workforce Solutions Borderplex, for hosting this program alongside us. Together, we’re creating meaningful opportunities for young professionals to gain hands-on experience, grow as leaders, and make a lasting impact in our community.

Last but certainly not least! 🌟 We’re highlighting our final two Community Impact Summer Interns.

Together, the Paso del Norte Community Foundation and Workforce Solutions Borderplex connect local college students with meaningful, paid opportunities at nonprofit organizations across our region. Through the program, interns gain hands-on experience, build professional skills, and make valuable connections while supporting the important work of our nonprofit community.

Matching funds can turn generosity into momentum.

For years, the Melinda and Meyer Marcus Family Foundation has been an incredible champion of El Paso Giving Day, helping local nonprofits inspire donors, reach new supporters and make every gift go further.

This year, the Marcus Family is investing $100,000 in El Paso Giving Day, including:

$75,000 in designated matching funds
$15,000 in matching fund raffled prizes
$10,000 for new El Paso Giving Day video prizes

We are incredibly grateful for their continued generosity and commitment to strengthening philanthropy across our community.

Today, we celebrate Karina as she begins the next chapter of her professional journey!

Karina first joined the Paso del Norte Community Foundation as an intern and later became our Communications Assistant and a valued member of our team. Over the past few years, her talent, creativity, organizational skills, and exceptional work ethic have contributed greatly to our department and to the work of the Foundation.

As part of our team, Karina provided important support for several major initiatives, including El Paso Giving Day, Nonprofit Conference: Reimagine, and Operation Noel. She also worked closely with our team to help refine and manage our scholarship portfolio, contributing to a more effective and efficient experience for students, volunteers, donors, and staff.

Karina approached every project with thoughtfulness, creativity, and a willingness to help wherever needed. Her contributions have made a lasting impact on our team, and she will be deeply missed.

Karina, thank you for all you have contributed to the Foundation. We are grateful to have been part of your professional journey and wish you continued success and all the very best in what comes next! 💙
