Wednesday we got a surprise. Kenny, a longtime Toastmaster who has served all the way up to the district level and competed along the way, walked in with a speech ready โ so we did what Toastmasters clubs do: put him straight into the lineup. His evaluation came from our President and Area Director, Jose, DTM. Table Topics were run by Robyn, DTM. And new member Yvonne took home her second trophy for Best Table Topics.
Kenny said something worth repeating: clubs like this one give you so much room to develop. That's the whole idea.
One role, explained โ the Evaluator. Every speech at a Toastmasters meeting gets a two-to-three-minute evaluation from a fellow member: what worked, one thing to try next time, and why. That feedback is the engine of the program. At Northeast Toastmasters #2812, your evaluator may have been reading speeches for twenty years.
(Juliza surprised us with walnut muffins. High marks all the way around.)
We meet Wednesdays at 6:00 PM, Western Technical College, 9451 Diana Dr โ free parking, just over Transmountain and right off the highway, easy to reach from every part of the city. Our members come from the west side, downtown, the northeast, and the east. Guests always welcome. Come watch one meeting.
