💜 FIVE DOLLAR FRIDAY — MEET MACY 💜

Yesterday, Macy, a sweet little pug mix, came into the care of Law N Paws through an active animal cruelty investigation.

The circumstances surrounding her case are extremely disturbing, but because the investigation is still ongoing, we cannot share specific details at this time.

What we can tell you is the most important part: Macy is SAFE now. ❤️🐾

Macy was taken to East El Paso Animal Hospital for a complete veterinary assessment and will receive everything she needs to become fully vetted. Although she may not show obvious physical injuries from what she endured, we want to make sure this little girl is healthy and receives all the care she needs moving forward.

For this Five Dollar Friday, we’re asking our community to help us with Macy’s veterinary expenses. We have taken in several cruelty cases back-to-back, and every one of them comes with veterinary care, testing, treatment, medications and other expenses.

Oliver found his FOREVER HOME! 🏡❤️

We couldn’t be happier for this sweet boy. A huge thank you to his wonderful new family for opening their hearts and giving Oliver the forever life he deserves.

And the best part? He now has a new sister AND two little pug siblings to share his adventures with! 🐶🐶🐶❤️

These are the moments we live for at Law N Paws — watching one of our rescues walk into their new home knowing they are loved, wanted, and finally HOME.

Happy life, Oliver! Go enjoy every single minute of it. You deserve it! ❤️🐾

🌈 Our sweet Otis crossed the Rainbow Bridge today.

This is the update we never wanted to make. After five days of fighting, Otis’s kidney values went back up, he still wasn’t eating, and his little body was beginning to shut down. We had to make the heartbreaking decision to let him go peacefully and not allow him to suffer anymore.

We truly gave Otis every chance we could, and he fought right along with us until his body just couldn’t fight anymore.

We want to especially thank our friends at EP Barks and Rec and RESCUE RUNNERS for being there for Otis and for us through all of this. Your support meant more than you know.

And to every single person who donated toward Otis’s medical expenses, shared his posts, prayed for him, sent messages and followed his journey—thank you. Because of you, we were able to give him five days of hospitalization and every opportunity to pull through.

We may not have been able to save Otis, but we were able to make sure he knew love, kindness and compassion before he left this world.

Rest easy, sweet boy. You were loved, you mattered, and you will not be forgotten. 🌈🐾

🐾 Monday Update on Otis 🐾

We have another update on our sweet Otis, and we are staying hopeful. ❤️

His kidney and liver values have gone down slightly. They haven’t come down as much as we would like just yet, but they are moving in the right direction, and Otis is doing better than when he first came in.

He still doesn’t have much of an appetite and has become a little anemic, but we are hopeful that whatever toxin he may have ingested will continue to flush out of his system. We’ve seen cases like this take several days for the body to work through, so right now we are giving this guy the fighting chance he deserves.

Otis stayed another night in the hospital so he can continue receiving the fluids, monitoring, and care he needs. That means we’re looking at approximately another $500 added to his medical bill.

Otis has already made it this far, and as long as he continues showing us that he’s fighting, we’re going to fight right alongside him. 🐾❤️

🐾 OTIS UPDATE 🐾

We finally have a little bit of encouraging news on Otis. ❤️‍🩹

The barium is moving through his system, which is a positive sign. He is also urinating normally, and although he still doesn’t want to eat, he is moving around more than he was before.

His doctor is recommending another day of hospitalization with IV fluids and continued treatment to hopefully help flush whatever is affecting his system. At this point, there is concern that Otis may have gotten into or ingested something toxic, although we still don’t know exactly what happened.

We’re taking it one day at a time, and right now we’re grateful to see even these small improvements. 🙏🐾

Another day in the hospital also means another medical bill — today’s estimate alone is $796.60. We truly need help continuing his care.

🚨 URGENT UPDATE ON OTIS 🚨

Last night, the veterinary team was preparing to perform exploratory surgery because the suspected blockage had not moved after more than eight hours. Sadly, it still had not progressed or passed.

Before surgery, they repeated Otis’s bloodwork and discovered that his kidney and liver values had worsened instead of improving. Because of this, the veterinarians were worried that he might not survive anesthesia or recover safely from surgery, so they had to postpone the procedure for now.

Otis is still receiving IV fluids and additional treatments in hopes of helping his kidney and liver values improve. If his numbers get better, the veterinary team will reassess whether surgery is safe.

Otis is such a sweet boy, and he is fighting so hard. He has already been through so much, and we are doing everything we can to give him a chance. We have already spent a significant amount on his emergency care, and we urgently need approximately $532 more for his current treatment. This does not include the cost of surgery if he becomes stable enough to undergo it.

Otis remains hospitalized at Far East Animal Hospital and we still desperately need your help. ❤️‍🩹

He continues to receive IV fluids and treatment, and the veterinary team is taking repeat X-rays to monitor the barium as it moves through his system. They are still trying to determine exactly what is going on and whether there is a blockage or another underlying issue.

His hospitalization, fluids, treatment, and continued X-rays are adding to his medical costs, and we have already paid $1,098 with his care still ongoing.

🐾 FIVE DOLLAR FRIDAY — PLEASE HELP OTIS 🐾

Last night, our friends at EP Barks and Rec were contacted by a homeless man who was concerned about a dog he had with him. He knew something was wrong with Otis and reached out for help. Otis had recently been seen healthy, but suddenly became extremely lethargic and began suffering from vomiting and diarrhea.

EP Barks & Rec helped get him to safety, and rushed Otis to Far East Animal Care Center, where he stayed overnight for bloodwork, X-rays and emergency care.

Unfortunately, we still don’t have all the answers. Otis is severely dehydrated, and the doctors are concerned about some abnormalities involving his intestines and the possibility of a blockage. They are recommending continued hospitalization, IV fluids, medications, antibiotics, monitoring and additional testing, including testing for tick-borne diseases.

We were given the attached $796 estimate for his continued hospitalization and treatment, and we have already spent even more getting Otis to this point.

🎉 LILY HAS BEEN ADOPTED! 🐾💕

After patiently waiting for her forever home, our beautiful Lily has officially been adopted! 🏡❤️

We’re so happy to see another one of our rescues begin a new chapter. Our greatest hope is always that our rescues find a home where they will be loved, safe, spoiled, and cared for for the rest of their lives.

Lily deserves nothing less. 💕

Be a good girl, Lily! We’ll miss that beautiful face and those gorgeous blue eyes, but nothing makes us happier than seeing you finally HOME. 🐶❤️
