El Paso is proud to join UNICEF’s Child Friendly Cities Initiative, a global movement working to make cities more responsive to the needs, rights, and voices of children.

Through this initiative, the City of El Paso, El Paso Community Foundation, and Para Niños are partnering with UNICEF USA to strengthen how our community supports children and families and develop a Child Friendly City Action Plan.

Now, we want to hear from you!

Parents, caregivers, youth, educators, and community members are invited to take an anonymous survey that takes less than 5 minutes and help answer one important question:

What do young people in El Paso need most to thrive?

Your feedback will help shape local priorities and investments for the next two years as El Paso works toward UNICEF Child Friendly City designation.

ICYMI 🎙️ KTEP HAS A PATH FORWARD — AND YOU CAN HELP SHAPE IT!

KTEP is moving toward an exciting new chapter as UTEP and the El Paso Community Foundation partner to jointly manage the station, helping keep local programming, NPR content and student opportunities alive for years to come.

We’re also excited to welcome Marina Monsisvais, MBA, who will help guide this next phase. A longtime member of the KTEP family, Marina currently hosts State of the Arts and brings more than 25 years of experience in community partnerships and strategic communications.

Now, we need our community to help build KTEP’s future. ❤️

📻 Big changes could be coming to KTEP 88.5 FM.

UT System regents have cleared the way for the El Paso Community Foundation to take over programming and daily operations of the public radio station owned by UTEP - The University of Texas at El Paso as KTEP faces the loss of 33% of its budget from federal funding cuts.

KTEP’s five employees and student workers are expected to remain, and no immediate programming changes are planned. The foundation says it will seek community input as it considers how the station could grow.

No matter how you slice it—170 tons. 340,000 pounds. 1.35 million meals. Every number tells the same story: our community is coming together to support pets and the organizations working tirelessly to care for them. 🐾

In just one year, the Borderland Rescue Fund has distributed more than 340,000 pounds of pet food and essential supplies to animal shelters, rescues, and pet support programs across the Borderland.

This milestone wouldn’t be possible without the power of partnership. We’re incredibly grateful to Greater Good Charities, the City of El Paso, and the El Paso Public Library, and to our amazing volunteers—including the AKtion Club—whose dedication helps make this work possible every day.

While there’s still much work to do to address our region’s animal overpopulation crisis, every pound distributed strengthens the safety net for pets, the people who love them, and the organizations working to save lives.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey. Together, we’re creating meaningful impact—one meal, one family, and one pet at a time. 💙
