Eco El Paso

Eco El Paso Eco El Paso is a 501(c)3 nonprofit supporting , and locally. It became a 501(c)3 in 2009.

Eco El Paso's (EEP) mission is to promote innovative, eco-sensitive and energy efficient community planning, building design, construction and facility maintenance in the hot, arid climate. We provide educational training seminars and presentations for professionals in the design, construction, renewable energy, and building maintenance industries, from experts in the various trades for sustainabl

e residential, commercial and institutional projects. EEP was created in 2008 by a group of volunteers from different professional organizations including the AIA, USGBC, ASID, ASHRAE, UTEP, TTU, EPBA, and APA. Founding members include architects, engineers, interior designers, planners, educators, landscape designers, material and systems consultants, manufacturers and general contractors. We envision cooperating with other groups with similar goals and objectives to promote and educate and to serve as a vehicle for discovery, learning and integration of sustainable and regenerative life practices. We aspire to define, with others, regionally appropriate built environments that are healthy, original, ecologically sound and focus on locally and regionally sourced resources, both human and materials. EEP is dedicated to fostering a learning environment for sustainable systems and life styles while integrating workforce and economic development concepts.

STAND UP FOR THE PARK! Call your reps!

City Representative Chris Canales, District 8

Use the sample here to make your voice heard so we can conserve land adjacent to the park, prevent disruption to our native habitats and perhaps even expand the park!

This is what another person sent to their city rep, which I think is very well written. At this point in time the land has been sold to another real estate agency. The city is trying to say it is out of their hands and that there is nothing they can do about it anymore. However I refuse to believe that because the city had sold the 58 acres where Keystone Heritage Park currently is to the railroad. The neighborhood residents got up in arms, and with a LOT of work (and fundraising) got the land back from the railroad. The railroad is a very powerful entity, and if we won the land back once before, I have hope we can do the same with this next parcel of land. Thank you.
"The land adjacent to Keystone Heritage Park is currently for sale and should be acquired and incorporated into the park for conservation and expansion. Keystone has the highest bird diversity on the west side of El Paso and ranks among the city’s top parks for wildlife. It serves as essential habitat for migratory birds and butterflies each spring and fall.
The west side has already lost too many natural areas to development. Preserving this parcel would protect biodiversity, expand educational opportunities, and strengthen a unique community resource.
If developed for industrial or pollution-generating use, the impact could be lasting and irreversible. Keystone supports 33 species of shorebirds and wading birds, among the most pollution-sensitive groups, that depend on clean wetlands and mudflats to survive.
The current sale of the land must be reversed.
Thank you "
