BREAKING: A natural gas pipeline leaked in San Jacinto County, closing FM 1127 near Highway 59 and prompting a multi-agency response, according to the San Jacinto County Office of Emergency Management. Roads remain closed and a Red Cross shelter has opened at Shepherd Community Center.

PHOTOS APPEAR TO SHOW THE PIPELINE MAY HAVE BEEN STRUCT DURING NEARBY EXCAVATION near the pipeline easement, but this is not yet confirmed. It is unknown whether or not the excavation was for a pipeline. We are still seeking answers.

SAN JACINTO COUNTY IS DIRECTING ALL INTQUIRIES DIRECTLY TO THE PIPELINE COMPANY RATHER THAN ANSWERING QUESTIONS ABOUT THE INCIDENT.

This raises a basic question of local accountability: when an emergency happens inside a county’s jurisdiction — closing its roads, calling out its volunteer fire departments, and opening a shelter for its residents — RESIDENT SHOULD BE ABLE TO GET ANSWERS FROM THEIR OWN LOCAL GOVERNMENT, NOT BE ROUTED TO A COMPANY HEADQUARTERED HUNDREDS OF MILES AWAY IN ANOTHER STATE. ONEOK, the operator of the line, is based in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The people responding on the ground are local. The people being asked to explain it to the public shouldn’t have to be a corporate office out of state.

This is the same county the proposed DeLa Express Pipeline (Moss Lake Partners) would cross, and ONEOK is also the company behind the proposed Saguaro Connector Pipeline. This incident is exactly why people here are asking hard questions about adding more pipeline through their communities.

A TxDOT approved contractor will reopen single-lane access on FM 1127 east of US Hwy 59. Pilot vehicles will be in place to guide motorists through the area.

The alternate route across private property will close when single-lane access on FM 1127 is reestablished.

Pipeline repair activities continue, as does precautionary air monitoring. There is no danger to the public. We continue to prioritize safety as we respond to this incident and appreciate the patience of the community throughout this process. Once again, we extend our deep appreciation to the private landowner for allowing alternate route access across her property.

UPDATE: Large Natural Gas Leak Shuts Down FM 1127 Near Highway 59

Saturday, June 13, 2026 | 3:00 p.m. update

We continue to see some incorrect information regarding access and want to provide the following up-to-date information.

Location and Alternate Route Access

FM 1127 east of US Hwy 59 is currently closed to the public. An alternate route has been established for access across a landowner’s private property.

We expect FM 1127 to reopen Sunday evening once repair activities are complete.

At this time, the alternate route is scheduled to remain open 24 hours a day with lighting and security personnel until FM 1127 is reopened subject to the following public safety restrictions:

Small passenger vehicles only. Large vehicles will not be allowed to enter the property.

Traffic is restricted to residents only. If you do not have an immediate need to be in the area, please avoid the area to prioritize local resident traffic.

At this time, we do not anticipate the forecasted rain to impact repair work. Residents should follow direction of local law enforcement and signage as it relates to the alternate route and any changes in access. Decisions about alternate road closures will be made with public safety as the priority.

Residents who live in the neighborhoods down FM 1127 are encouraged to email [email protected] for displacement reimbursement. Examples of displacement expenses include lodging, food, fuel and other necessities.

We continue to prioritize safety as we respond to this incident and appreciate the patience of the community as we work to restore access. We also wish to offer special thanks to the private landowner who has permitted public access across her property.

SAN JACINTO COUNTY, TEXAS - Multiple fire departments are currently on the scene of a large natural gas leak along FM 1127 near Highway 59, according to the San Jacinto Office of Emergency Management.

The leak was reported earlier today, prompting a multi‑agency response as crews worked to secure the area and halt the flow of gas. ONEOK, the pipeline operator, is on location and actively working to shut down the affected line. Officials say there is no estimated time of completion, but an updated timeline is expected soon as the company prepares a formal release.

Emergency management officials emphasized that there are no evacuation orders in place at this time. However, FM 1127 has been shut down until further notice while crews continue mitigation efforts.

Residents needing to travel through the area may request a private detour route by messaging the Office of Emergency Management directly on Facebook. Due to the route crossing private property, officials say it will not be posted publicly on social media.

Authorities will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.

UPDATE:

As of 5pm, San Jacinto Office of Emergency Management and American Red Cross have opened up a shelter at Shepherd Community Center. As of 4:30pm, there are fire flares set off of Wright Blvd.

Be advised that fire personnel are on location for safety. At this time, 11:27 will remain closed for at least 24 hours . The alternate route was closed for the night, we do have fire and EMS personnel setup on the east side of the leak.

Before environmental justice was a mainstream political issue, Bill Addington was helping organize one of the most important grassroots movements on the U.S.–Mexico border. 🌍✊ He helped turn a small rural resistance campaign into an international movement.

Bill became one of the central figures in a movement that transformed border activism: organizing protests that shut down international bridges between El Paso and Ciudad Juárez 🌉, building bi-national coalitions across the U.S.–Mexico border 🤝, and uniting students, environmental groups, farmworkers, clergy, ranchers, artists, and civil rights organizers against the dump. 🌱⚖️

The campaign drew national attention 📢, reshaped conversations around environmental racism on the border 🗣️, and ultimately forced the project’s defeat after years of organizing. The movement successfully stopped the dump and became a landmark example of border environmental justice organizing. 🏆🌿

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) just protested a Project Jupiter pipeline for the first time ever because of Hold the Line Campaign’s pressure!

✅ “They’ll divide us—we must unite.” – Project Jupiter isn’t just a New Mexico issue. It’s a two-state, two-nation fight (El Paso-Texas, Ciudad Juárez-Mexico, Doña Ana County-New Mexico). Imagine what 20,000 comments could do!

Pipeline companies try to be as discreet as possible about their plans to bury dangerous gas pipelines out of sight and out of mind as quickly as possible, because an uninformed community is easier to take advantage of. We at Hold the Line Campaign try our hardest to ensure communities are informed of such projects and are able to have a say in the future for their families.
