Happy quiet, chill Pride. πŸŒˆπŸ’€

Pride does not have to be loud, busy, or nonstop to be real. For some of us, Pride looks like rest, softness, staying in, protecting our energy, and celebrating ourselves in quieter ways. 🫢

If you’re feeling tired, overstimulated, or just not in the mood for big crowds this season, that does not make your Pride any less valid. You are still part of this community. You are still worthy of joy, belonging, and celebration exactly as you are. πŸ’›

Let this be your reminder that rest is part of the journey too. A cozy Pride is still Pride. A gentle Pride is still Pride. A quiet Pride is still Pride. ✨

Listen to this week’s Healing Arts from the Borderland Podcast πŸŽ™οΈβœ¨

This episode features Luke Bugby in a conversation on the arts of writing and film appreciation. Available now on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. πŸŽ¬πŸ“š

Some people carry the kind of presence, insight, and perspective that makes you feel like they’ve lived a hundred lives already β€” and when it comes to film analysis and appreciation, Luke Bugby is absolutely one of them. From silent films, to 90s TV noir, to newer films like One Battle and Hamnet, Luke shows up with curiosity, depth, and a point of view all his own. πŸ’πŸŽ₯

This episode is full of thoughtful conversation, love for storytelling, and a real appreciation for the ways writing and film shape how we see the world. And yes β€” Luke also gives Aaron a real challenge in the long hair department. πŸ’«

Tune in, listen, and enjoy this week’s conversation on Healing Arts from the Borderland. πŸ’–

Special thanks to the Borderland Rainbow Center and Texas Association Against Sexual Assault (TAASA) for supporting this project.

Trans people have always been at the heart of the fight for LGBTQ+ rights β€” and we owe so much to their courage, resistance, and leadership. πŸ³οΈβ€βš§οΈπŸŒˆ

In 1969, trans people helped lead the movement for our rights. Today, it is our turn to show up for them with love, action, protection, and solidarity. Supporting trans people is not optional. It is part of honoring our history, our community, and our future. ✨

We cannot celebrate Pride while staying silent about anti-trans violence, discrimination, and erasure. Pride means standing with trans people, fighting for trans rights, and making sure trans joy, safety, and liberation are protected every single day. 🫢

Protect trans lives. Defend trans rights. Celebrate trans people. Always. πŸ’–

12 reasons why we still need Pride 🌈

By

Pride is not extra. Pride is not outdated. Pride is not unnecessary.

We still need Pride because our rights are still being debated. Because LGBTQIA+ youth still need resources, safety, and support. Because not everyone can come out safely. Because trans people are still being targeted by violence. Because visibility changes hearts. Because our elders deserve to be remembered. Because community saves lives. Because Pride is global. Because many q***r people are still fighting just to survive. Because not all q***r people are celebrated as they should be. Because equality is not the same as acceptance. And because we are not ashamed. 🫢

Pride is protest, remembrance, visibility, protection, healing, and joy all at once. It is a reminder that our community is vast, beautiful, and deeply connected β€” across generations, identities, and borders. It is also a reminder that while some people get to celebrate, others are still fighting for safety, dignity, and the right to simply exist.

We honor the people who came before us, we show up for the people beside us, and we keep building for the people coming next. That is why Pride still matters. That is why it always will. πŸ’–

For nearly two decades, The Monsters Ball has been more than a Halloween party. It’s a celebration of community, creativity, and the belief that when we come together, we can make a real difference.

This year, we’re embracing the legends, the rebels, and the icons who dared to be unapologetically themselves.

A little reminder for anyone who needs it today 🌈✨

You deserve to be loved, accepted, and celebrated exactly as you are. Pride has always been about showing up authentically, supporting one another, and creating spaces where people feel seen, safe, and valued. πŸ’–

For so many of us, Pride has been healing. It has helped us unlearn shame, step into ourselves, find community, and imagine a future filled with more hope, joy, and freedom. If you’ve ever had to hide who you are, this is your reminder that you are not alone β€” and you never should have had to carry that by yourself. 🫢
