This past weekend was all about culture and celebration for Kids Excel! We had the wonderful opportunity to participate in the annual Día de los Mu***os parade in downtown El Paso. There was plenty of walking—and even more dancing!

A heartfelt thank-you goes out to the KEEP staff and our fantastic parent volunteers who made our first parade experience such a resounding success! 🙌🏻☺️💀

The arts create innovators!

The arts create innovators!

🏆 Nobel Prize–winning scientists are 17x more likely to be actively engaged in the arts than other scientists.

This week is National Arts in Education Week—a reminder that the arts don’t just create artists. They create innovators.

And employers agree:
▶️ 72% of business leaders say creativity is “highly important” when hiring
▶️ 61% of workers say creativity makes them more successful
▶️ 53% say their jobs require innovative thinking

But here’s the challenge: students in underserved schools—the very students who could benefit most—are often the least likely to have access to these innovation-building arts programs.

That’s why federal support matters.

✅ Well-Rounded Education programs—including Title IV-A Student Support & Academic Enrichment Grants and Title II-A Supporting Effective Instruction Grants—help schools deliver the creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking skills our economy demands.

✅ And the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), the largest national funder of arts education, plays a crucial role in expanding these opportunities nationwide.

These investments are at risk as Congress approaches the September 30 budget deadline.

We agree!

This week is National Arts in Education Week—and a critical moment for advocacy.

As Congress nears the September 30 budget deadline, lawmakers will consider key funding decisions that directly impact arts education nationwide.

The numbers tell a powerful story:
▶️ 92% of Americans agree arts education is vital for students grades pre-k-12
▶️ Yet more than 2 million students still lack access
▶️ 72% of business leaders say creativity is “highly important” when hiring
▶️ Arts education improves academic outcomes and reduces dropout rates

🎯 And right now, the largest national funder of arts education—the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA)—is at risk of being cut.

At Americans for the Arts, we’re advocating for real solutions:
✅ Pass the Arts Education for All Act (H.R. 2485)—the first federal legislation to expand equitable access to arts learning across a lifetime.

Arts education isn’t a luxury—it’s essential for workforce readiness, student success, and a thriving creative economy. Every student deserves the opportunity to create, innovate, and thrive through the arts.

We are stronger together this , and invite business leaders, educators, and advocates to take action.
