We met today at Lee & Beulah Moor Children's Home, a non-profit our club is proud to support. The Lee & Beulah Moor Children's Home is one of El Paso’s most respected and compassionate organizations, providing hope, stability, and opportunities for children and families facing difficult circumstances. For more than 65 years, the Home has offered a safe and nurturing environment where young people can grow, learn, and build brighter futures. Through residential care, foster care, adoption services, counseling, educational programs, and family support, the organization has positively impacted thousands of lives throughout the Borderland. Its commitment to teaching self-respect, personal responsibility, and respect for others reflects the enduring vision of Lee and Beulah Moor, whose legacy of service continues to strengthen the El Paso community today.

I wonder how many of our members remember the project we helped with at the Zoo in 2005. During my third year working at the zoo (now 24!) our club teamed up with Rotary Industrial in Juarez on a matching grant project in support of the purchase of computers for the conservation program in the old Paraje exhibit. These pictures were taken on Earth Day in 2006 when families used the computers to go online and learn more about our animals before the day of almost everyone having a computer.

Let's share on Facebook some of our projects over the years. A little over 20 years ago our club helped to raise funds for Rwanda's first public library. A friend of mine in California donated 250 coffee mugs that we sold to help raise funds. Here is a video of the completed project. When I was working on my book (thanks to Bob Peterson for being my editor) I went to a meeting of the Kilgali Rotary Club. They were the only club to survive the genocide in 1994 and led the effort. Since then, Rotary has grown across the country. Notice the Rotary logos at the entrance. The Kigali Public Library is one of the most inspiring Rotary-supported education projects in Africa. It is widely recognized as Rwanda’s first modern public library and became a symbol of healing, education, and reconciliation after the 1994 Genocide Against the Tutsi.

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.
