Designs presentation for the Frontera Traffic mitigation project.

Save the Date - Monday, April 20, at 6pm, Westside Regional Command Center

Representative Chavez asked that I reach out to you to provide you with good news- the designs for the Frontera Traffic mitigation project are ready to be shared with the community and Representative Chavez would like to host a meeting alongside the city’s Capital Improvement Department to share them, including the location of the diverter and access gates.

We are working to confirm the Westside Regional Command Center, located at 4801 Osborne, for Monday, April 20, at 6pm. Please share this “Save the Date “ with the Zach White Neighborhood Association and the Colonia Escondida Home Owners Association members.

Frontera Traffic Mitigation - Presentation Slides

Advocating for District 1: Frontera Road Updates and Regional Coordination

I want to thank the engaged community members who took the time to attend the third meeting I’ve facilitated on the Frontera Road traffic mitigation project, and I’m grateful to City Manager Dionne Mack, Deputy City Manager and CFO Robert Cortinas, and senior staff from the Capital Improvements Department and Planning & Inspections for joining the conversation. All of us remain committed to ensuring this important project for District 1 continues moving forward, and I will continue to share updates as key benchmarks are reached in the months ahead.

Because developments near our neighborhoods can have real impacts on District 1 residents—even across city and state lines—I believe it’s important to stay engaged and speak up. While a proposed development in the City of Sunland Park that abuts this neighborhood did not move forward as planned earlier last year, the MOU I championed between the City of El Paso and the City of Sunland Park allowed El Paso to receive timely information about a new proposed residential development on Frontera Road. Through that process, City of El Paso departments formally submitted comments, and I sent a letter to the Sunland Park Planning & Zoning Commission elevating concerns about potential traffic impacts to this established neighborhood.
