The Border Art Residency, a non-profit organization affiliated with the El Paso Community Foundation, offers a selected artist a period of retreat for creative work in a living/studio space in the heart of El Paso, Texas. For over twenty years, the border community has worked together to provide artists from all over the world a space to experiment, explore, contemplate, and create. Finding the pe
rfect space has proved to be an enormous challenge. While we continue to search for a permanent space, we have found a location in the historic Five Points neighborhood, and applications are now open for semester-long intensive residencies. While we will always miss the pastoral setting of La Union, we are sure artists will find the pulse of the region in this new space. These shorter residencies will also allow us to open up the experience to more artists, who will still be able to pursue their craft without the worry of immediate sales or an outside job to pay for housing expenses. Artists selected for the program are able to achieve a greater degree of personal growth by concentrating on individual goals. They also share progress with local students, educators and the public.
