El Paso SCCA - PANAM Region El Paso,TX Chapter of the Sports Car Club of America Sports Car Club of America Solo (Autocross) in the Sun City! Additional Military discounts are available!

The Pan AM Region of the SCCA hosts a full schedule of autocross events throughout the year at Cohen Stadium in Northeast El Paso, and serves the El Paso/Las Cruces/Juarez, Mexico area. Solo events are driving skill contests that emphasize the driver's ability and the car's handling characteristics. This is accomplished by driving a course that is designated by traffic cones on a low hazard locati

on, such as a parking lot. While speeds are no greater than those normally encountered in legal highway driving, the combination of concentration and car feedback creates an adrenaline pumping experience. All of our links available here: https://linktr.ee/915_autocross

What’s required to compete?
1. A valid driver's license
2. A helmet that Snell rated for 2015 or newer (loaners are available free of charge)
3. Entry fee
4. Pass a technical safety inspection (checks for fluid leaks, ensures everything is bolted down securely including the wheels and battery, and ensure there is nothing loose flying around the cabin). Championship Event #2 Driver Highlight!

We continue catching up with driver highlights for 2026. For Championship Event #2, we are highlighting Thomas Pistole, who managed to take home a 🏆 on his very first autocross event!

Here is more about Thomas and his white 2023 MX-5 GT:

"Car has Kogeki 17x8 wheels, Progress springs, a front sway bar, and a Good-Win Racing exhaust.

I used to do a lot of canyon/mountain driving back in California. I had a modified Mazda 3 and then a Genesis Coupe 3.8 R Spec. I got into off-roading and built a Jeep when I moved out to El Paso and just got back into driving small cars again when I got the MX-5. I had never raced competitively on a track other than a drag strip, and I'm really enjoying Autocross now."

Driver Highlight is back!

For the 2025 season, we are changing things up!

We will feature a driver per event instead of per month, focusing on drivers who attended the event and did something worthy of a highlight reel!

We have some catching up to do.

For Championship event #1, we selected Jackson Sweat and his 2025 Mustang GT!

Here is a little more about Jackson and his ride:

"My 2025 Ford Mustang GT, named KITT (Ball Knowledge required), thankfully aims for the cones and not people. It helped me win my, hopefully, only cone killer award. Completely stock except for some weight reduction, KITT has proved to be tough and fast. I'm looking forward to installing its first mods!

Fun Fact: I like to be fast in the sky as well, being a licensed pilot on both single and multi-engine aircraft."

This is the fourth points event for 2026.

This event will be held in the parking lot east of the water park offices at the former Cohen Stadium.

The event is subject to cancellation if a minimum of 15 drivers is not reached before June 24th at 9:00 p.m.

Club Meeting May 2026

This month’s club meeting will be held at Rudy's "Country Store" and Bar-B-Q, 3550 Joe Battle Blvd at 6:30pm local time.

The purpose of these meetings is for the club board to meet and discuss operations, events, growth, etc. This includes ideas for new events, pursuit of new potential sites, and any other club business.

Remember, the club is a volunteer-run organization that works for its members, by its members. Anyone can attend these meetings, so come on out, participate, and lend your input!
