"UTEP people and El Paso community: It is outrageous to count on ADA permits paid by students and employees to finance parking services. I have heard about student employees who can't afford to continue working at UTEP because their salary is greatly reduced by the parking fees,. How does UTEP expect students with special needs to walk for miles to get to their classroom or working place without paying a large portion of their income? This is unfair and exclusionary. People with disabilities must pay almost double than able persons to have access to UTEP. Furthermore, paying ADA in-campus fees does not mean that there are guaranteed spaces. Sometimes all parking spots are occupied and persons who paid the ADA highest fees have to walk a long distance to their destination when the road is not always safe or easy. Besides, in general, student parking fees are just too high. Please, sign our petition. You don't have to be a student or employee. And ask other people to sign. UTEP should care about every single member of the community."
