What were the numbers telling us about El Paso’s workforce heading into summer?

We’re taking a look back at the beginning of summer, June 2026, for a labor market snapshot and the numbers that help tell the story of where our regional workforce stood.

Here’s a quick look 👇

📈 4.9% unemployment rate
👥 422,408 people in the labor force
⏱️ 15 weeks average return-to-work time over the last 12 months
📋 1,471 active UI claimants
➕ 1,700 jobs added
➖ 1,600 jobs lost
🔥 53 Hot Jobs identified for FY 2026
💼 2,136 current job openings

And the workforce pipeline continued to grow. From April through June 2025, 415 graduates entered the next chapter of their careers through local education and training programs highlighted in this report.

These numbers are more than statistics. They give us a snapshot of the people, opportunities, and trends shaping El Paso’s workforce and help us better understand where our region is today and where it may be headed next.
