This display case at the EPMR clubhouse presents a wonderful cross-section of model railroading history, craftsmanship, and creativity. On the upper shelves are several classic O scale train pieces, including a vintage-style steam locomotive and freight cars displayed on track sections behind glass. The black locomotive and tender marked “Keebler Express Lines Co.” immediately draw attention and give the exhibit a nostalgic toy-train appearance reminiscent of traditional Lionel railroading. Nearby freight cars and rolling stock add to the historic railroad atmosphere, while the lantern on the left side reinforces the connection to the golden age of rail travel and railroad operations.

The lower section features an impressive miniature town and industrial scene, in N scale, showcasing detailed scenery, roads, homes, businesses, trees, vehicles, and railroad operations in a compact layout. The scene includes small industries, a water tower, freight cars, and town structures that demonstrate the artistic side of model railroading and how railroads connect communities and commerce. Tiny details such as automobiles, landscaping, and storefront signage help bring the scene to life and highlight the patience and skill involved in building realistic model railroad environments. Together, the display case reflects EPMR’s mission of preserving railroad history while inspiring visitors through the creativity and educational value of the hobby.

Congratulations to EPMR member Tony as he works toward earning two advanced certifications through the National Model Railroad Association (NMRA) Achievement Program: Master Builder – Scenery and Chief Dispatcher. These prestigious certifications recognize both the artistic and operational sides of model railroading. The Master Builder – Scenery certificate honors exceptional skill in creating realistic landscapes, terrain, structures, vegetation, and overall railroad environments that bring a layout to life. Chief Dispatcher focuses on realistic railroad operations, including train dispatching, scheduling, yard management, and coordinated operating sessions that simulate the movement of a real railroad.

These certifications are highly respected within the model railroading community and represent many hours of dedication, learning, creativity, and hands-on experience. Tony’s efforts reflect the educational spirit and craftsmanship that help make the Railroad Model and Historical Association of El Paso, Inc. such a special organization. We are proud to support and encourage members who continue to advance their skills while helping preserve and promote the art, science, and history of model railroading.

Check out this new reel from Jose. An N scale Union Pacific Challenger #3985 with coal cars, flag box car, stock car and caboose. The Union Pacific Challenger was a massive 4-6-6-4 articulated steam locomotive designed to pull heavy freight trains at relatively high speeds across the western United States. Introduced in the 1930s, the Challenger combined tremendous power with smoother operation and flexibility on curves, making it one of the most successful large steam locomotives ever built. Today, it remains a favorite among railroad historians and model railroad enthusiasts because of its size, engineering, and iconic appearance.

Enjoy a glimpse of one of the unique trolley models operating at the Railroad Model and Historical Association of El Paso, Inc. (EPMR). This classic European-style trolley appears to represent the type of electric tram commonly seen in Germany and other parts of Europe during the early-to-mid 20th century. Trolleys like this once provided reliable urban transportation while helping shape the development of cities and neighborhoods across the continent. Another great example of how model railroading preserves transportation history in miniature form. Thanks Rolf
