To KFOX News,
How about covering the fact that police departments often choose not to enforce interference with child custody — even though it’s a state jail felony under Texas law (Penal Code § 25.03)? Parents with lawful court orders are often left helpless when the other party refuses to return the child, while officers dismiss it as “a civil matter.” Meanwhile, enforcement of child support is aggressively pursued.
Why is one side of family law prioritized while the other — which directly affects a child’s safety, emotional health, and parental rights — is routinely ignored?
There are countless parents in El Paso and across Texas suffering in silence because law enforcement agencies won’t act on these violations. This is a public safety and justice issue. Please look into it.
