An update that has been a long time coming! ❤️

Many of you in the El Paso community will remember the Great Pyrenees who was all over social media, and all over El Paso, throughout the summer. So many people tried to catch him, but this boy was a master at evading everyone! After weeks of trying, he was finally caught on the 4th of July and brought into our rescue.

George came to us with absolutely no trust in people. It was heartbreaking to see just how afraid he was, and his behavior told us he had likely been through some really difficult things in his life. We knew he needed time, patience, and a whole lot of love to learn that he was finally safe.

We've worked long and hard to help George feel safe, happy, and loved, and today, we get to share some incredible news. George is officially on transport to begin the next chapter of his life! ❤️

This boy deserves nothing but amazing things, and we couldn't be happier that he has the chance to experience them. From a dog who spent the summer running from everyone to a boy on his way to a new beginning, George's journey has been a special one, and we are so grateful we got to be a part of it.

And this didn't happen because of one person. From the people who caught him, brought him to the rescue, helped with logistics, the transport team, and everyone who played a part in finding George his forever home, this has truly been a team effort. Thank you to every single person who helped make this possible. It takes a village, and George's village showed up for him!

Wishing George, his new puppy friends, and his amazing transport team safe travels today. May this next chapter be filled with love, security, new friendships, and all the wonderful things this sweet boy has always deserved. 🐾

El Paso Giving Day Early Giving has officially started, and we're asking our El Paso community to help us keep doing what we do every day: care for animals who need us.

If you're new here, we're Desert Oasis Rescue and Sanctuary, a small, home-based rescue caring for both companion animals and farm animals right here in El Paso.

And when we say animals, we mean a LOT of animals. 😂❤️

Dogs & puppies, cats & kittens, neonates, birds, goats, pigs, ducks, chickens, horses....and even more!

Every single one of them needs food, care, and a safe place to land.

We're spending over $1,000 EVERY MONTH on food alone. And that's just food. It doesn't include veterinary care, medications, vaccines, deworming, cleaning supplies, enrichment, or the unexpected emergencies that come with caring for so many animals.

It adds up quickly, but these animals depend on us, and we're committed to doing everything we can for them.

We're a small rescue, and one of our biggest challenges is simply getting people to know we exist. We don't have a huge following or a big facility, but we have a whole lot of animals counting on us.

It’s almost time! El Paso Giving Day starts tomorrow!

Early giving for El Paso Giving Day starts October 8th and runs through October 14th, with the big Giving Day happening October 15th!

This is our first year participating, and we’re really excited about the opportunity to introduce more people to Desert Oasis Rescue and Sanctuary and the animals we care for.

Donations help us with the very real, everyday costs of rescue and sanctuary life: food and feed, veterinary care, medications, shelter, supplies, and caring for animals who need a safe place to land.
And there’s an extra reason to mark October 15th on your calendar: all donations made that day are matched! That means your donation can make an even bigger difference.

But if you can’t donate, PLEASE SHARE THIS! We’re a relatively new rescue, and getting this in front of new people is huge for us. Share it with your friends, family, neighborhood groups, coworkers, animal lovers, or anyone who might want to help a local rescue!

You never know who might see one share and decide to become part of what we’re doing.

We are 2 weeks away from our next adoption event, and this is going to be the best one yet! Join us for dog adoptions alongside our friends at Huckleberry Hound Dog Rescue of El Paso, freshly baked treats from Desert Oasis Farmstead, and trick or treating for your kiddos with the local vendors! Our rescue took in yet another litter of Great Pyrenees puppies today.

Many of you may remember Lizzie and her puppies from a couple of months ago. So many of you helped us with that litter, and we still cannot thank you enough.

Unfortunately, the need never seems to stop. Just when we get one case settled, another one shows up. We are going to continue helping the animals who need us, but the reality is that every new litter puts a huge financial strain on a small rescue.

With five puppies, everything adds up quickly. Five puppies means five times the food, five times the vaccines, five times the deworming and flea and tick treatments, and a whole lot more cleaning. And Great Pyrenees are a giant breed, so these puppies are going to go through a lot of food as they grow.

We are asking our community to come together and help us with this litter.

Right now, we will especially need:
• Large-breed puppy food
• Dewormer
• Flea and tick prevention
• Cleaning supplies
• Donations toward vaccines and veterinary care

We are a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit and can provide documentation for donations.

We know we have asked for help before, and we don't take that support for granted. Every bag of food, bottle of cleaner, and donation makes a real difference when you're caring for this many animals.

Sweet Black Bean is still waiting for her forever home after almost 2 months here at the Rescue. She is a beautiful black lab mix - approximately 6 months old, spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. She absolutely loves other dogs of all sizes and does great with kids. She loves to run around, play with toys, and wrestle with other dogs. Then she's content to cuddle up with you on the couch for an afternoon nap. She is an amazing dog who will make a wonderful family pet!
