💙 TRIBUTE TUESDAY 💙

This week, our Tribute Tuesday is especially close to our hearts.

As we approach September 5, what would have been Officer Jacob Arellano’s birthday, we honor the officer whose life and legacy inspired everything our Foundation stands for.

Officer Jacob Arellano #11729 was more than the badge he proudly wore. He was a son, a father, a brother, a twin brother to Joshua, a friend, and a Dallas Police Officer who chose a profession dedicated to serving others.

Those who knew Jake knew his smile, his personality, his love for his family, and how proud he was to be a father and a police officer.

Although his time with us was far too short, his impact continues.

Through the Officer Jacob Arellano Foundation, his legacy now helps support law-enforcement families during some of their most difficult moments, provides opportunities to young people through scholarships, raises awareness about the devastating consequences of impaired driving, and honors the men and women who continue to put on the uniform every day.

Every Tribute Tuesday we share traces back to him.

Every family we are able to help carries a piece of his legacy forward.

And every time we say his name, we are reminded why this Foundation exists.

This Tuesday, we honor our own.

Today, Team Jake #11729 proudly participated in the EPMPOA Annual Golf Tournament at Painted Dunes! ⛳️💙

Great job to Mike McKinney, Chris Herrera, Tony Hernandez and Eloy Tellez, finishing 4th with a 58 — and congratulations to Chris on an incredible hole-in-one on #7 from 172 yards! 🎯⛳️

💙 TRIBUTE TUESDAY 💙

Today, the Officer Jacob Arellano Foundation proudly recognizes Sergeant J. Barrientos of the El Paso Police Department DWI Task Force.

For the past seven years, Sgt. Barrientos has served with the DWI Task Force and now serves as a sergeant within the unit. His leadership goes beyond his rank, he continues working the graveyard shift alongside his officers, leading by example and sharing in the difficult work they do each night.

Sgt. Barrientos is also dedicated to educating future EPPD officers and our community about the devastating consequences of drinking and driving. He continually works to strengthen his officers and find better strategies in the fight against impaired driving.

For the Officer Jacob Arellano Foundation, his work carries a very personal meaning.

Our mission was born from the devastating consequences of impaired driving. We know firsthand that behind every impaired-driving crash are families whose lives can be changed forever.

Every officer working to stop an impaired driver before another tragedy occurs is doing work that matters deeply to our Foundation.

Sgt. Barrientos, thank you for your leadership, your dedication to your officers, and your commitment to protecting our community and preventing impaired-driving tragedies.

💙 TRIBUTE TUESDAY 💙

Today, the Officer Jacob Arellano Foundation proudly recognizes Monique Batres, our Director of Community Outreach & Volunteer Coordinator.

Monique has been part of our Foundation from the beginning, volunteering countless hours of her time and giving her heart, energy, and unwavering support to help our mission grow and carry forward the legacy of her cousin, Officer Jacob Arellano.

When we asked Monique what being part of the Foundation means to her, her own words said it best:

“Being part of the Officer Jacob Arellano Foundation means so much to me. It gives us a way to keep Jake’s memory alive while helping other families who are going through some of the hardest moments of their lives.

It has also given our family something that keeps us connected. We have something to work toward and something we can all be a part of in Jake’s honor. I’m grateful that we can take something so heartbreaking and turn it into something positive, and I’m proud to be part of keeping Jake’s legacy alive.”

Monique, thank you for the countless hours you have volunteered, for always being willing to help, and most importantly, for helping us continue a mission that was born from our love for Jake.

💙 TUESDAY TRIBUTE 💙

Some acts of support are never forgotten.

Today, the Officer Jacob Arellano Foundation proudly recognizes the members of the Horizon City Police Department who, this past July, traveled from El Paso to Dallas to stand with Team Jake #11729 at Run for the Blue.
They didn’t have to make the trip. They chose to.
They showed up together, represented their department and our community with pride, and helped us honor the life and legacy of Officer Jacob Arellano hundreds of miles from home.
For our Foundation and our family, seeing officers from our own community standing with Team Jake in Dallas meant more than we can put into words. It was a reminder of what the law enforcement family is all about, brotherhood, service, loyalty, and never forgetting one of their own.

To the Horizon City Police Department officers who made that journey: thank you for giving your time, for standing beside our family, and for carrying Jacob’s memory with you.

You didn’t just represent Horizon City that day.

You represented Team Jake. 💙🖤
